Honestly, you'd walk past the little place without even sticking your nose in, except that we were given a heads up by a Vietnamese friend. Don't be put off, persevere. the food will be worth it. There is a lavatory at the back. It was...clean, I don't think they serve alcohol although I suppose you could bring your own. I drank tins of Calpis from the fridge, watered yoghurt, not sweet, very good with rice. The kitchen looks shambolic, every one runs around yelling at each other. The lady who brings you to your table is apt to yell down there too. Ignore all of this. Sit dow, get the menu and start a fantastic meal. I don't know how they did it in such cramped surroundings back at the boile...
I came with a group of friends we ordered a series of orders. I went for the crabs croquets that were on the special board, the pork yogayaki, and I saw a special on sashimi that was when bought with a main...Meal instead of or so, so I tried the salmon. All I had was nice enough, it came quite fast after the order, not amazing taste, but it was good. it's not the best japaners I've ever had, but we were all mostly satisfied. others had teriyaki tofu, chickenramen, sushi rolls, not real complaining with one of them. we can pay our meals separately with card or cash, was also very convenient. someone brought a bottle of wine to eat with the meal, so they charged us per person for it. we were here or time to lunch in the last months and have always impressed and never disappointed. Honestly, fresh, simply chilled. no pretension extremely friendly staff. all the usual suspects are on the menu and daily specialties. are kreatiw wide. realistic estimated, it is a great value. thanks sakae!
We had a lovely meal at Sakae. The food was delicious, the waitress was so gracious and it was not as expensive as Japanese restaurants generally seem to be. We had about dishes shared between people and it cost approx per head....Great value and we were all satiated!

We have been here many times since we moved to marrickville. The food is constantly good. And the service is very prompt and friendly. The prices are also very fair. I’m happy to recommend them.
I believed the best rams in me. it was completely disgusting. the black was essentially a stripe of fat and the sauce was terrible. I had to reject it and go. I will not come back.

This is the perfect spot for those nights when you just can't be bothered cooking. It's super-cheap, but clean and friendly and the menu is jam-packed with all the favourites.
Do yourself a favour and try this place. Very reasonably priced and unpretentious. Does what it says on the tin. Very good quality sushi !
