We have visited this restaurant several times over the past few years, and the food has consistently been excellent. The authentic Japanese cuisine and outstanding service make for a wonderful experience. Some great starters to try are the Harumaki (spring rolls), Prawn Gyoza (dumplings), and vegetarian tempura. For main dishes, be sure to sample the beef sukiyaki, chicken teppanyaki, and one of my personal favorites, Nasu Dengaku (grilled eggplant topped with sweet red miso sauce). Check out the pictures!
We were a group of 8 who are Japanese food lovers. Although the place is nicely located and close to home, but unfortunately, this will not be our future favourite restaurant. While the fried chicken pieces and the sake accompanied are good in blending, but the less than fresh sashimi failed to impress. Too polite to complain but before returning home, we had decided to take away some sashimi from a nice grocer, called Leo's, a block away, and they turn out in the evening table to be fresher, and cheaper!
Have eaten here previously and always enjoyed the experience. Over the last two months we have ordered take away here many times and the service is very reliable. Our order is always ready in 15 to 20 min. Food is good quality, well prepared and excellent value. We particularly like the prawn gyoza ($7.90), beef potato ($10.50) and chicken teriyaki don ($11.50) as a great value enjoyable feed for two at home! Recommended.
This place I visited with some other family members who recommended it highly. Their children were raving about the place. Food was excellent, service average but overall very good. I'm not a fan of the bench seats with no backs but they worked for us. There is plenty of choice. Food was cooked fresh and served up hot and quickly.I was surprised and looking forward to going again soon!!!

Sakura is a great family restaurant. We like the prawn gyoza, tempura veg, most chicken dishes and the salmon (which unfortunately is one of the smallest servings we've had in a restaurant). Avoid the sushi. Other dishes (the cooked ones) are best. We have been often and our only comment on service is that it is a bit hit and miss. Foodwise, easily the best in Camberwell.
We eat here all the time - about twice a month. Great food and pretty authentic compared to other local offerings. Casual dining though and great with the kids, can be busy and a bit noisy and the casual staff can be a bit slow. Sushi and sashimi is cut and made fresh, and lots of great dishes to share. BYO wine makes for a cheap night and there is Sapporo on tap.
We normally come to Sakura once or twice each month for the past few years. as always this place offers great Japanese food with a smile. when the restaurant is really busy we might wait for a few extra minutes for our turn to be served but it never stopped us from returning. the food is tasty and fresh and affordable.
The sashimi and tempura were excellent, perfectly complemented by refreshing Sapporo on tap. However, the grilled dishes didn't quite deliver the same level of excitement.

Went here to eat as it was close by and we noticed it is always busy around dinner time. The food was average but service was great!
Supremely delicious food and consistently good service that is timely and unrushed make this a regular favourite
