Beautiful restaurant that needs reservation to get a table to eat. Missed some dishes because the menu was different (every night). It was a little pricy and good at the presentation. The dining room was also very nice. After first pair of appetizers, the room always dark (type of transition bar style), it was a challenge to get the best pictures from the food. Everyone saw a very high end. However, the food itself did not fit a very high level in cooking and taste. Nice, for example, to have a special moment, celebration and/or anniversary. Some dishes cannot be filled. Prepare to get more, e.g. a lobster roll, on the street (or from other bar/restaurant).
Very nice restaurant. Food was excellent. My code was very good. Only one complaint was that it was hotter. It was warm, but very tasty. My wife? Moroccan chicken pasta dish was unique and very good I had a four roses bourbon martini that had a smokey aroma. It was a little sweet for my taste. Service and waitress were excellent We sat in the dining room I recommend. Deck is a bit too rustic for this type of menu. Bar looked good for lunch, but a bit cramped. The dining room was very nice. They press their 4 course tasting menu. We went beyond and remained fundamental
I'm giving this restaurant four stars because in Bar Harbor it seemed to be hard to find upscale fine dining, Salt and Steel gave it a pretty good shot. If this restaurant were in urban area, I would rate it lower. I found the menu a little bit limited and not very progressive. With that said two out of my three dishes were excellent. They recommend a tasting menu, which I went with. The tasting menu halfs the dishes, which in the case of the rabbit really messed with the proportions of the dish. The service was decent for bar harbor, it all seems to be seasonal work.
This must be one of my favorite food experiences all the time. The menu was so unique and full of flavor combinations I had never experienced. The service was incomparable, the atmosphere was comfortable and they had perfect cocktails to complement the dishes. They did not have many options for food restrictions, but they took me (dairy allergy) and I could still have an amazing dinner. If you like spices, you must try the spicy drink!!!
