Salut Americain Edina

Salut is my favorite restaurant. We go there to both Edina and St. Paul locations for special occasions throughout the year. On our visit to the Edina location, we were a bit disappointed with our Croque Madames. The chef was kind enough to prepare them on baguette at our request, which was much appreciated (because baguette makes for a better Croque Madame than the sandwich bread, even if it isn't as authentic, perhaps). When our meals were brought to our table, we were rather surprised to see that our Croque Madames were half the size as they usually are. Literally. And about half the amount of French fries. The ratings I gave for “noise level” and “ambience” pertain to the outdoor seating area. It was incredibly noisy exposed to busy France Ave. Not the traffic of cars, but the HUGE trucks, garbage and construction trucks that sped by, were ridiculosly noisy to the point of irritating. Wish the restaurants on France could unite to persuade the city government to restrict that thoroughfare to HUGE trucks, banning them totally! Or at least, place a strict mile per hour speed limit on all vehicles!!! —-but that would not affect the noise level dramatically, since these trucks are noisy period! Our reservation was for p.m. and we were promptly seated outside per our request. Wait staff was quickly attentive and helpful. definitely not forgotten in the outside location French onion soup was perfect We had the Mussels appetizer for a main course it was huge Bagette was the usual excellent My Bacon Cheese burger royal was nicely prsented and perfectly done and large

Great experience as always. Seated outdoors, nice breeze and great service. Recent experiences in other restaurants have experienced shortage of staff but super attentive and staffed well to make it a wonderful dinner with friends Réservez une table maintenant

Our meal was not up to Salut’s standards and usual fresh and well prepared menu items, we were disappointed. Service was nice and pleasant but not the food tonight
