After wandering around the town I was looking for somewhere to have a drink and maybe something to eat where I could sit outside. Although the squares in Cartagena are filled with places to eat in the evening this was the only place I found to sit and relax in the shade outside during the day. It's not large but there are a few tables and umbrellas outside overlooking the square and its right next door to the Museo Naval. I ate fish there twice and tapas on another occasion, it was all delicious and the waitress was very friendly and helpful. At night the plaza came alive so was a nice place to sit and watch the world go by. I am a single woman traveler and don't always feel comfortable eating by myself in restaurants but this place was charming.

This is a no brainer. A wonderful little bar in a lovely location beside the entrance to the Maritime Museum. If you are exploring Cartagena on foot without a guide it is easy to find. You are sure to be hot and probably a little bothered by the constant attention of guides, hawkers etc. This place has a truly wonderful and eclectic interior, friendly staff and cold drinks plus free Wi and at the same price as the street stalls were asking for their soft drinks. If you like beer try the local Cub Columbia Roja (served cold from a can but darker than normal lagers) Kick back and enjoy a break from the heat and the tired feet.

In a city full of fine restaurants, Santa Maria del Mar stands out for the fresher tastiest fish imaginable and an eclectic decor. Owner, Leticia Moreno, is the beautiful, gracious host, making you feel welcome the minute you enter this little gem, located beside the Naval Museum. And the mint lemonade? Heavenly.

Ok sometime you go somewhere and order a cool drink, but the taste meh and size too small. This place delivers and eyeful of gorgeous marine decor and large and tasty Limonada natural. It was exactly what we needed. Gave us endurance to get back out in the heat! And wifi was huge bonus!
