My partner and I were tourists in Lugano and we chose the Sass Cafè for lunch. We ate well, the service was not up to par, but above all the bill (different prices from those written on the menu). The Sicilian cannoli on the menu indicates the cost of CHF 12, but in the bill we paid CHF 14!... The water is cl. 50 they made her pay her weight in gold, CHF 4.80! It's okay that we were passing through and we're not local, but Incu....(ripping off) customers like this is really counterproductive, in fact we won't be going back again! Massimo from Lodi
I have visited Sass Cafe many times in this month and I can truly say it's a great place to visit and have a really tasty nosh-up or as well an aperitif followed with a snack. The entire staff is really attentive and provide the best service and commodity making you feel welcome, as well they provide options in any case you might have trouble deciding. In personal the dishes I've tried have been wonderful, the chef Mr. Andrew and his team really pour their soul into what they prepare. I really recommend it.
I was not able to enjoy even a drink at the caffe. First of all the staff was not happy when we said we would like just to have a drink. After waiting 10 minutes and when my father got bored and took the ashtray from the nearby table the waiter took it form his hands and put it back on the table without any explanation. Waiters were adjusting other tables and many customers were waiting to ask the order. This is unacceptable, especially if you are in the main square of a city in Switzerland. Shame on you!
Two stars because the food is very good. On the other hand, the service disappointed us a lot, especially in view of the previous good comments. We ordered two salads as starters and ended up receiving one for two after the main courses. The wine service was also done a moment after receiving the dishes. Waiters and waitresses friendly but visibly overwhelmed. For the price, a bit of a shame! Réservez une table maintenant
