Holy cow! Here are the highlights you should expect: JoAnn (middle aged black woman with glasses) was just a delight. Very humorous, helpful, and brought a great energy to the shop. The candy they make in house, is very good. Really high quality, and all made in house. The chocolates and the hard candies were top notch. The viewing counter was a joy. It was very cool to watch them make the candy. Very traditional and homemade. It was awesome. Lastly, the atmosphere is really top notch. Fun space to be in, and so much history to how they’ve come about. I’ll be back when I’m in town again!
What a fun place! We arrived just as they gave an informative presentation on how they make their red hot cinnamon drops on antique equipment. The museum inside is fascinating and the old fashioned shop is just a treat (pun intented). The number of antique confectionery dies is quite something to see! An unexpected and delightful experience
I discovered this fabulous shop on Google maps when we were in the area for work (my husband is a professional puppeteer). We visited and purchased some hard candies (cinnamon red hots, fish, anise and clove) and a pound of chocolates. The staff is friendly and the street is full of wonderful little shops.
This place is awesome! We have made several visits. We always get my 85-year-old father-in-law homemade horehound drops that make him relive the good old days. As for ourselves, the chocolate vanilla bourbon balls and malted milk balls are the best!

The prices here are a little bit pricey it's like 3 bucks for water, maybe more, fountain drinks where way to high, we decided to get fountain drinks at the gas station.
This place has been on my list to visit for 13 years, and it did not disappoint! The fish candy is my favorite, but everything I bought was great!
Love this place! Any time we pass through Louisville on vacation, we stop and visit. We have been doing that for 18 years.
If you've never been, do yourself a favor and step back in time at Schimpff's.
