In Lechenich it does not fail to deliver baked goods. We also have an attractive selection of cafés. Café Minten Castle is an excellent alternative in various ways. Why? On the one hand, because it is in a side street and cannot even be approached by car. Unlike what the name already says, it makes a small pompous impression. Clean, tidy, but not pompous. The name comes from the location, in the Burgstraße, which leads from the market to the Lechenich Castle. For me, however, the special thing about café and bakery is that there are still very traditional bakeries. During my last visit I was there with my wife and mother, the quality of the cakes convinced me. My wife and mother were also enthusiastic. From our table we had a direct look at a shop window with delicious chocolates. Since my wife came from Elmshorn, the home town of Wiebold Pralinen, she was of course curious. Of course I immediately asked where the chocolates came from. Oh, I have them in honor. “We do everything here in handwork” was the quick answer. And the look was so convincing that I had no doubt about it. Finally, I had a delicious proof, in the form of cheesecake, yes on my plate. It is worth noting that at the popular times the café is almost always very well filled and it is very close. This narrowness is also the reason for “only” four stars. But it is very nice and friendly there, and the vast majority of regular guests use the spatial conditions for cross-platform communication. What is no rarity at all in the Rhineland. Then, a few weeks later, of course a Christmas package for my mother-in-law in Elsmhorn from the Mint Backstube. A selection of chocolates, Christmas confectionery, cheese wafers and splashes. That was a perfect decision. A few days after we got home from the high north, my mother-in-law called us. In particular, the chocolates have caused their enthusiasm. “A true pleasure”, as she assured us. It didn't surprise us. After all, we had a sample. But not only the chocolates, also bread, rolls and all other baked goods are really good. Sure, the prices are higher than the big chains and discounters. But you can reward yourself and always enjoy something special. And real, honest craft deserves its price.

Even if the rolls often look very cheesy and dark, tastefully excellent! Breads and cakes are also recommended as homemade dishes. They are more expensive than others, but quality has its price. I want to know what I eat, what is contained there and where the ingredients come from. Mintens can tell me and give me the feeling of feeding me consciously and not sown me with low-grade fillers. Open the eyes, the craft of the baker dies! Where we live now, there is no real baker anymore. Only supports in discounters and backfactorys.
