This is hardy food set in a great surrounding. There's a wonderful beer garden outside; inside it's a former carpentry workshop. It has a wonderful, earthy feel and the food is outstanding. We've eaten here twice now and the quality of the meals is consistent. Prices are in the usual range for this style German food. They have specialty menus. It is Spargel season so with butter or Hollandaise sauce, it's a treat and can be had with or without meat. Next week is Fish week; tonight it's spare ribs. You'll enjoy this place! We were here on business.
I wanted to give this restaurant five stars, because the Schreiner Cheese Burger and Fries that I had were really delicious. But I went with four other people. Three of them were not excited about their meals. The beef steak was ordered medium and came quite rare, as well as not very tender. The pork schnitzel was under seasoned, as well as not very tender. But the burgers were really very good. I just cant bring myself to give it only three stars because a good burger can be hard to find.
I had dinner a couple of time with my colleagues, I like a lot the inner rooms, with all the working tools on the walls. Food is tasty, I love their "Pfeiffers Fleischpfanne" and, of course, a weizen beer. Price is generally not that high.

Lovely hidden inside and outside restaurant. Full of German character. Steaks are the best I have ever tasted and the prices are very reasonable.
Sehr gutes und grosses Steak. Sehr preiswert. Das erste Mal, dass ich hier essen wollte, war es ausgebucht. Also reservieren ist zu empfehlen.
If you like hessisches Food than this is the restaurant to go. The food is good and the price is right. Especially the Appelwein is perfect.
We always eat a carving. At the moment, it is always delicious and tastes great.
