If you love wine, the Schwartzen Adler is a must-go. The expansive (and not that expensive!) wine list is incredible. I was shivering when scanning through famous names (wine makers / wines) and incredible vintages. Such a thrill! Melanie, the sommelier in this restaurant, is knowledgeable and passionate about wine, it’s a pleasure to trust her judgment. So don’t be surprised if you notice some incredible bottles on the other guests’ table ;) By the way, the place is a bit bourgeois, you don’t really feel comfortable having a joyful gathering there. After my last visit, I can't steal a certain disappointment. There is now only one menu, the only choice is the number of courses. In the past, there were two different menus, so you had a choice even during a longer stay. This is all the more regrettable because the menu was often the only place where some creativity became visible and sometimes the approach of a certain reception of modern kitchen styles was also. There is nothing left to order an à la carte if you want to eat in the house. Especially in the main dishes, where there is no fish course, there has been little change for years. This restaurant is something of an institution in the Kaiserstuhl area, but it doesn't rest on its laurels. It provides excellent value for money. On offer are two distinct set menus using creativity and flair, in addition to the à la carte menu. The wine list is extensive and the set menus include a good selection of local and international wines to accompany each course. There is an outdoor terrace (ideal for smokers!) and a main dining room broken down into smaller dining areas. The art and decor is attractive and fresh flowers make for a prettysetting. The service is attentive, as one would expect from a restaurant of this calibre, but not obtrusive.

What Franz and now Fritz Keller create is still one of the classics of the German Gourmet restaurants. Anyway do not expect the creativity of Joachim Wissler for examples. But that not the idea of Fritz Kellers team. Creating a great wine and culinary experience with top personal service ( very professional maitre d'hôtel ) is the name of the game. The Sommelier is rewarded but still to young to really shine. Anyway start your dinner with white wine from the Weingut Schwarzer Adler or Dr. Heger and do not miss a great red Bordeaux for main. Take the " Feinschmecker Menu " and feel like in Heaven.

A perfect place to spend a weekend within one of the most interesting wine regions in Germany. The hotel is a rather traditional "inn" with well appointed rooms and furnishings, in classical style. The restaurant is fabulous, and you can order classical dishes or try the more modern approach of the daily menu. The wines from the estate are fabulous, but for Bordeaux lovers, don't miss the wine list and meditate on it ...

Well, a lot of shame, little being! One-star kitchen where you only get fed with the bread is more common. The service friendly but impersonal. And what makes the Black Eagle after eating in the bar still enjoy a fine cigar, snow from yesterday. It is no longer surprising that the breakfast buffet is predominantly industrial sausage and the scrambled egg comes from the tetrapak. Go on! But without us.
