We stayed 2 nights in a double room with shower and sink. The toilet was down the hall. The room itself was charmingly decorated and looked out over the lake. Everything in the room was exceptionally clean and fresh. Although linen and towels were provided, there was no soap (soap was available in the restaurant's restrooms, one floor down.) As with all berg hotels, guests are expected to take off their boots and leave them in the boot room before using the clogs (available in the boot room or bring your own slippers) to walk on the clean carpets upstairs. The top floor of the hotel contained multi-bedded rooms for school groups. While we were there, a large group of 20 students spent one night there. They were a little loud at first but quieted down promptly at 10pm. If you are not familiar with staying in berg hotels, then this small one may not be for you. But if you want an absolutely authentic Swiss mountain hiking experience, then reserve a room and stay for a few nights. We had dinner on each night and the meals were traditional and splendid. Breakfast was lovely as well, with a full range of cheeses, meats, cereals, juices, fruit, and rolls, fresh out of the oven. The staff were very kind and the owner, Madeleine, went out of her way to help us when we had to make a phone call and change a reservation. They were helpful at all times. They even let us take out the rowboat on the lake---which was a lot of fun, even if one of us got wet feet when we brought the boat back to shore. The hotel makes a wonderful base for day hikes---if you go, make sure you try the cheese, sausage, yogurt, and milk from the small alp and cheese maker just across the lake from the inn. We still have warm memories of having a snack at the rough picnic tables in front of the small alp, served by the cheese maker's grandmother and her small grandson. Our entire experience at Berggasthaus Seealpsee was wonderful!
