Selanne Steak Tavern is a must-visit for steak lovers in Laguna Beach, as well as for vegans. Owned by Hockey Hall of Famer Teemu Selanne and local businessman Kevin Pratt, the restaurant offers a menu of classic American steaks and seafood, along with vegan and vegetarian options. During my recent visit with my family, we were all impressed by the food. I started with the Scarlet Beet Ravioli (Vegan Style), which was perfectly cooked and accompanied by a delicious balsamic glaze. The charred asparagus (vegan style) was also incredibly tasty. I'd expect nothing less than a hattrick from Teemu and his steakhouse delivers that in spades. Just back from our 15th Anniversary Dinner and what a treat it was to spend it at Selanne Steak Tavern. The menu focuses on meat and it's a complete power play. The wagyu tartar was on point, the 45-day aged rib eye was excellent, and the wagyu strip steak absolutely delicious. We went with the Maui onions, broccolini, and (giant) baked potato as sides and were not disappointed. The wine list was strong, the desserts wonderful, and the atmosphere and service everything you'd come to expect for a terrific night out. Convenient valet parking in the rear and A+ from start to finish.
Wow the Pumpkin Cheesecake was to die for, shout out to their pastry chef Rebekka (sorry if I misspelled). I love desserts where you get crack things like a creme brûlée, and this is the first I 've had cranberry glass . Adds a perfect crunchy texture to the fluffy cheesecake! Nom nom nom. Thoroughly impressed and would highly recommend this over ANY of the steakhouses in the surrounding area. Dominates in the creativity and uniqueness. We decided to give Selanne a try for our anniversary and it was a great choice. Our server was Rafael and the service was excellent. My husband got the Lord Stanley cut (which is recommended for two, who doesn't like left overs? it was delicious. I chose the wagyu filet which was also delicious. We had the scallop appetizer which I highly recommend the mushrooms that come with this dish make the dish. We loved everything we had. We will definitely be going back in the future.

Mastros? Pshht. Selanne steak tavern takes the W all day. Incredible, intimate atmosphere with multiple different dining areas, incredible steaks, cocktails and wine selection, and always the best service. Perfect spot for a date night, a celebration, or just a impromptu steak dinner seated at the bar.
Fantastic food. One of the best meals I have ever had, hands down. DEFINITELY get the wedge salad, Mac and cheese, and the mashed potatoes. Maui onions were FANTASTIC!! The only thing I would t order again was the best salad but who cares everything else was top notch!
The steak, oysters, and mac and cheese were all delicious. I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the friendly staff at this restaurant. The service was excellent. I have always had a great time here. The event room is beautiful and ideal for hosting parties.
Food was amazing!!! And Jay was an outstanding server (really tour guide). Went a little crazy on the sides, I had to try them all!!! Thank goodness they were four of us, but still took food home.
