We were searching for Mediterranean cuisine on the island, and after trying several places without success, we finally discovered Shaloa Food. The service here was fantastic; the staff member at the front was incredibly friendly and answered all our questions. We ordered the Shaloa Plate, Shawarma Plate, and Falafel Plate. The portions were generous and perfect for sharing. The salad sides were flavorful, and they also offered authentic French fries, which were delicious. This restaurant is family-owned by the loveliest Israeli family. You can truly see the passion that the owner, Sagi, has for his work, and it reflects in the food he prepares. I always order the falafel mixed plate (a vegetarian option), and it is simply amazing! The falafel is crispy and incredibly flavorful, while the aubergines are cooked to perfection. The side salads are also very refreshing. I highly recommend this place! And let me not forget to mention their homemade pita—it’s fantastic! They don’t use any preservatives, so it’s always fresh and fluffy. I make sure to order some to keep at home. I absolutely love it!
The food was freshly made to order and had great flavors. We tried the shawarma pita and the hummus pita, along with a side of falafel. The pitas were generously filled! The service was friendly, and there was a steady flow of customers during our visit. The atmosphere didn’t score high, as there is no seating available; it’s essentially a walk-up counter situated in a busy parking lot. I would definitely return and might even consider catering some trays for a party from this place.
This restaurant consistently delivers great food and generous portions. Each plate is well-filled with the main entree along with sides like rice, pickled cabbage, hummus, and pita bread. The pita is wonderfully soft and not at all dry. The prices are quite reasonable considering the amount of food you receive. The Mediterranean food here is outstanding, with generous portions at a reasonable price. It's takeout only, but I highly recommend the Falafel Pita Wrap and all of their Plates. Plus, students can enjoy free pita chips with their ID. This is definitely one of the best values on Oahu!
Kaimuki-an, this hidden gem of a restaurant perfectly complements the culinary scene in Kaimuki! The food is delicious—definitely start with the Shaloha plate to get a feel for their offerings. And come hungry! Don’t forget to bring your stamp card while you’re at it.
