I am sorry to say that this so so so very far out from my Top-10 List of Indian Restaurants I have eaten in / had takeaways from, in and around Melbourne - Victoria. Relying on its past glory - "Awards" displayed were from 2001, 2003, 2006 - and I don't think much had changed since, in the menu, in cooking style and in plating .. all very dated, from all those years ago. Service was shocking (and the restaurant wasn't full). My order of 2 X Kingfishers took 30 minutes to hit our table, and that is after 3 reminders. Our group had the $45 Set-Banquet, and it is most barren of banquets I've had anywhere: The entrée of samosa and Tandoori chicken and lamb cutlet was served cold! 5 lots of entre...
We booked the restaurant for 6 people and they put us down for 12 people. So we were now not on the nice wooden tables with black leather chairs , they placed us on a round table in the corner with dirty chairs that made all our clothes white stained, with no signs of them placing us on the table we booked two weeks prior.We then had to ask for knifes and forks and napkins as there we only 3 on the table.I was waiting for someone to reset a table and place us on the nicer table with the black chairs as we had booked for, it was not our fault that they can't read their own writing. The food was ok but getting placed in a corner was terrible and really was disappointing as a happy day was soon...
Absolutely disappointed. I have never walked out of a restaurant before. We waited at the counter for a good 5 minutes without acknowledgement, then when we were acknowledged, we were told to seat ourselves. Waited 15 minutes just to be given a menu and water. No offering of drinks. Waited another 10 minutes while we sat there and still no service for drinks or food. It looked like others were in the same boat, wasn't even that busy. Such a shame to go out and for our one night and have this service. We ended up walking out at 7.30pm to go elsewhere. Will never return.
We have been coming here since day dot before they moved to a more upscale location not 100m away. The food has always been consistently tasty with our extra spicy requests being fulfilled without fail. The service is great and the owner, Shah, always friendly and helpful with new menu items. I love this place and its my go-to for my weekly spice fix. Do yourself a favour and try this place out.

Went to Shavans a few weeks ago for a birthday lunch my wifes .Was a buffet lunch ,nice variety of dishes ,more than you could possibly eatbeen there quite a few times in the past .Always great food ,friendly staff and good prices Nice and bright outlook
Have been here twice in less than a month.Get there early as the later you go, the longer you wait for your meal. Have had a few different meals, all nice depending on your taste.
Whenever we have Indian food, it has to be from here. Great takeaway, and if eating in very attentive service and food is served fairly quickly, perfect for when you're hungry.
The food is one of the best around the restaunt is clean and moden. Its sad the service is so slow and bad it could be a 5 star restaurant if they only learnt about service

We absolutely loved the food, the atmosphere and value for money, plus being so close to home we will definitely make it a regular for our nights out.
An enjoyable eating experience for family and friends. Food is delicious, serving sizes good and reasonable cost. Always an enjoyed visit.
