We visited as a small family booking for a mid afternoon Sunday lunch. The establishment was about halfway full, with a large party being looked after in a function room close to the entrance, which to me seemed promising. The host was pleasant and very efficient, and the waitress taking our orders was also very efficient and friendly. Have been many times but tonight it was not a good experience which was disappointing as it was a last family meal before our son goes off travelling before Christmas. Arrived and we picked our food when the girl came to take our order she said one of the mains was not available we should have been informed when handed the menu, we asked for her to give us 5 more mins to choose an alternative and then I had to ask her to come take the rest of the order a Christmas dinner was chosen from the menu on the table 'oh no you can 't have that you need to pre book ' we were told why put it on the table then ?? four of us have a late midday visit to the shrewsbury arms, mickle metford very pleasant outside and inside, very clean. first masks were not required (but they can wear a mask if they want). handgel available. we were immediately shown on a table, no booking, but it was 2:30 on the afternoon. probably 20 minutes wait to come to lunch, but it shows that the meal was cooked for us. I had a beautiful broken fish, very large, large rugged chips that were really good and muddy heaps. service was good, waiter/waitresses very attentive and polite. good parking.
We visited this pub on our way back home from a trip to the zoo. We had the Sunday roast platters, the food was delicious with very generous portions. The only downside was that we were so full we couldn’t get dessert. The staff were friendly, polite and helpful. We will definitely be back.

Excellent menu, suited all our preferences and dietry weirdnesses. That lasagne was the best I've ever tasted anywhere. Beer in perfect condition, the happiest, most helpful staff made us want to move in there. It was a wonderful experience and very good value
Fabulous food, service not so good. Loved lamb dinner beautifully cooked lamb, Some young waiters inexperienced and borderline rude. Slow had to ask to order having waited 15 mins however the food made up for everything, stunning
Still an awesome Sunday lunch, we had 3 meats, plenty of meat and veg, all piping hot, great value for money. Still in our top 3. Well done.
Had my 60th birthday there ,this place never disappoints me ,lovely food and friendly staff,that cant do enough for you ,a fabulous pub

We had Christmas Day lunch here and it was lovely. The staff were amazing, the food was lovely, will definitely be going back.
Lovely food. Good service. Cant be beaten for Sunday lunch. Fresh veg and prime meat. It’s our first choice for a family meal.
