We decided to give this hotel bar a try because it is conveniently located near our apartment and stays open later than other places in the area. Parking was a bit of a challenge as we were uncertain where to park if we only wanted to have a drink or two without being charged for a longer stay. We asked the hotel reception for guidance and they were very helpful, informing us that the parking fee could be waived if we were just visiting the bar. The atmosphere in the bar was subdued that evening, with a few people playing a game, others watching sports on the multiple screens, and a couple of individuals working on their laptops. The staff were attentive, perhaps due to the lack of customers...
Shutters is a typical hotel restaurant that seems to be plagued with really bad reviews from a long time ago. The bad reviews swayed me away, but I?m glad I ate breakfast and dinner here on Aug 21, 2018. The breakfast buffet was excellent with a wideselection for good food. They have an omelet station manned by and excellent friendly cook. The omlett was excellent and sowas the bacon. The only negative was that the buffet was $22!!! Big surprise and quite expensive. Dinner was also excellent. Iordered the Shea martini Shea is a hotel manager who helped me out) and it was delicious, prime rib panini $18), and applecobbler $7). Stayed in this hotel so this was a convenient option after a long day... Have to echo the comments on the prices of wine. $19 for a 9oz pour of Alamos Malbec... should be criminal to charge that... The food is good but seriously, the alcohol prices are beyond insane. So disappointing when all you want is a glass of wine. The wait staff is also very odd. They don't acknowledge people that walk up to be seated (and it's not really clear where the hostess stand even is as there is no hostess). So you just stand there for awhile feeling out of place (the bartender spotted us and grabbed the waiter's attention to seat us). So I dunno... If you don't want to drink, it's a convenient choice if you'...
Here's the thing it was late, I didn't have the time/energy to go out and I was pretty much in my PJs and, for that, Shutters was perfect. I had to work through dinner so the roomy table, the somewhat quiet, uncrowded dining area, the attentive bartenders and the creative, fast and tasty food were perfect. There are tons of great restaurants within walking distance of the Marriott but, for those who's criteria match mine above, it's a perfectly fine hotel bar/option. There are TVs, games, a full bar and lots of places to be social if you desire. One note the menu is limited so if you are looking for a lot of options, you'll have to put on your shoes, clothes and walk somewhere nearby. Réservez une table maintenant
I stayed at the hotel but found that the restaurant was worth visiting even if you're not staying there. The manager was great and seated us, taking our initial order. The waiter we had was a bit confused, but the food was excellent. The chicken fingers, though not on the kids' menu, were available and delicious with fries. The fish tacos were also very good. The deviled eggs were good, but a bit unusual. There were so many other great options that I probably wouldn't order them again. The BBQ chicken flatbread was a good choice for a meal or starter. I highly recommend it. The orange crush drink was very good. The happy hour specials were available until 7:30 and were a nice bonus.
We came here to try the breakfast buffet. The restaurant is across from the lobby. Very comfortable booths and tables. The buffet section is inside a room. Other than hot food, there's a short order cook who cooks fresh eggs for you. I got my spinach and mushroom omelette. To be honest the buffet was average but we thought the service was quite amazing. Our server (Shre? was lovely and sweet. Everyone was too but since she waited our table, she made sure everything we needed was there. We both had our individual coffee pot. Great coffee!
The arugula salad with Gorgonzola cheese, almonds, and fresh strawberry dressing was vibrant and fresh. My main course was a large portion of char grilled salmon, cooked medium rare, served with couscous and grilled salted asparagus. The whole wheat bread was delicious and served hot. Despite our server being somewhat slow during a slow time, the management was attentive and willing to address any issues. The upscale venue was very clean and well-maintained, with a bar area offering high top and table seating with TVs.
