Wanted a good meal on the drive back from Fernie to Calgary while traveling with my family and saw the high ratings for this spot on Tripadvisor. Not easy to find at night (poorly lit sign on the side of route 2), but glad that we made the trip down the dirt road. The place is simple but very nice and attached to a rodeo arena. You won't find warm spinach salad with candied pecans but what you will find is a phenomenal steak. You won't walk away hungry......warm bread with bruschetta and a pre-steak pasta come with your meal. Classic old style iceberg lettuce salad is included as well. The steaks are simply awesome. Grilled to perfection. Served by very charming waitresses. We will stop here...
Very quaint great experience, they actually over feed you. First the bring bread, then salad and pasta, if you get through that the steaks and prime rib are excellen. I suggest you order the smallest cut as the rest of the food is a lot. The only knock on this restaurant is it's lack of a good wine list. I was told that they would do corkage so I brought a nice bottle for dinner, but when they told me corkage was $20.00 a bottle that doesn't work. Normal corkage anywhere else is $5.00
We had a family dinner here and it was fabulous. I was not sure what to expect in a arena but I was wowed by the restaurant: everything from food, service and decor exceeded expectations. So much so, that we are headed back there with friends and I can't wait to see their faces when they find out all the different courses that come with our meal. PS we took our little ones to restaurant and they had a kid menu and were very accommodating.
This is one of the best steak dinners you can get, with added value and uniqueness for the sides you receive. I've only had steaks, but they have been superb every time. Other family members have tried other options from the menu and been happy. My only complaint is the acoustics. When the place is full, it can be pretty loud and hard to have a conversation. But I refuse to dock anything from my rating because the food is still worth it. Réservez une table maintenant
Well this steakhouse out in the middle of ranching country, attached to a riding arena was a great find. The steaks are great and the sides are pretty good also. The beer selection is the only thing holding this place back in my mind. If they add just one dark beer I'll give them the 5 rating they deserve.
Received a gift certificate for the SilverSlate. Attended with family. It was excellent. A little disappointed that there was no prime rib, but the rib eye and the filet mignon were fantastic. The salad and pasta starters were delicious. Absolutely worth the drive.
