Location is great, right on the water with a great view if you go to the oyster bar and sit outside. Expect a wait, staff is really friendly and stopped by every time they walked through our area. The wait time for food was incredibly long. They mentioned this to a new table that was sat after the room we were in cleared out. At that point we’d been waiting for food for about 20 minutes. The food arrived hot and was decent. The burger was the best of all 6 meals. Blue crab soup was good and while the kids meal was cooked well they are $8.99 for a small plate. The crab stew was the best crab soup I’ve ever had of any kind. It is cream based like a chowder and is amazing! The oysters are fresh and delicious. My server was very friendly and attentive and my food came quickly. Don’t rely on the “not too busy” timeline on Google maps for this place. It said no waiting, but it was packed when I got there at 5:30 and I had a 40 minute wait. It was nice to enjoy the gators, turtles and boats on the river as I waited and the food was well worth the wait.
First time since Covid that I stopped still excellent. I stop when driving I 95, and take the time to get out of the mindset of driving to actually being someplace...and someplace special. I like to exit I 95 a few miles before, and follow Route 17, to see and appreciate the land and water. At Skipper's, sit outside, look over the water much to take in. The food is real and good; the serving staff is professional and human.
I highly recommend this place to anyone driving by or lives there locally. A fun atmosphere with kind servers. This place also has a boardwalk to walk one and see a one of a kind shrimp boat. The meal we ordered and split was the Large Shirmp Platter with two sides. It was amazing!
