In a culture that prizes barbecue above all else, I’ve always found it puzzling why southern barbecue chefs often neglect brisket. They excel with pork, creating truly delicious dishes, but unfortunately, they apply the same techniques to brisket, which leads to disappointing results, as I experienced at Smokin Pig. I asked how much meat came on the brisket plate, and the worker couldn't tell me, so I ordered 1lb of brisket and asked specifically if this was sliced, and I was told that it was sliced and not chopped. Then, they proceeded to give me a pound of chopped brisket. Additionally, the brisket tasted like it was pot roast and not smoked. I've given this place a fair try on several occasions, and the food here makes me want to move 4 hours to Richmond Hill and open a BBQ joint because almost anyone could do it better. Awesome place for BBQ, arguably the best pulled pork I've had in Richmond Hill to date. Highly recommend swinging in and giving them a try for lunch or dinner. If you're looking for fast, delicious Southern cuisine, this is the spot for you! As a mac and cheese enthusiast, I can confidently say theirs is outstanding! Just a word of caution: the banana pudding dessert is utterly addictive! The portions are generous, and the atmosphere feels welcoming. The staff is fantastic, too. I would rate it 6 out of 5 stars every time we visit!
