With this day and age of Uber Eats, Menulog, and Deliveroo just to name a few great little restaurants like Somsak can sit nearly empty Mon - Thrs which is a shame. We are fast becoming another nation of couch eaters...Get out of the abode and venture down to Somsak on Toorak Rd South Yarra you will be glad you did.I love Thai food so it's a no brainer for me and the ambience of Somsak gets me every time plus they have Belvedare lime and soda what more do you need?Yes it's licenced, yes the food is always good, yes the service is always good humble Thai style and they always seem to be open when I head that way.Beats sitting on the couch ordering delivery, bit of the human touch when food is...

I visited somsak for a work catch up and the food did not disappoint. I ordered a mixed entree to begin and I was impressed. The deep fried food was perfectly crisp and the fish cake was tasty, the chicken skewer was juicy and all served with a peanut and sweet chilli sauce. Next I ordered coconut rice with a spicy pork belly dish and I was blown away by them both. The pork belly had crispy skin with tender flesh, wok tossed with veggies and a fantastically well balanced sauce. The rice was full of flavour i demolished the whole lot. Afterwards I ordered the banana fritters and those were a perfect sweet treat full of coconutty goodness. Overall fantastic experience and I will be back.

I recently organized catering from Somsak Thai for a 50th birthday party with ~20 guests. We worked out a suite of dishes from the takeaway menu, which has significantly lower prices, and then the restaurant owner kindly offered a further discount for the bulk order. The food was delivered on time, nice and warm and all I had to do was spread it out and serve while continuing to party - it was brilliant!Everyone at the party RAVED about the quality of the food! This is *Thai-style* Thai cooking. Particularly yummy were the Massaman curry, the papaya salad and the chicken larb. I highly recommend this restaurant!

I love spicy food and I like Thai in general. Having lived in Thailand for a few months for work, I became accustomed to the lifestyle and food there. Having been born in Singapore moreover, spicy food is no stranger to me. I dined at Somsak a few nights ago and haven't looked back since. Their food is pretty good for the most part and their spices and chilli should you prefer your food that way is proper thai. It adds a solid kick and punch to the meal. The service is pretty good too and the overall staff are friendly. Well worth a dine and return. Réservez une table maintenant

This place is now my favourite go-to takeaway in South Yarra. It has the convenience of being registered with Foodora makes delicious Thom Kha, spring rolls and curries. It's not a noodle place, so go somwhere else for your Pad Thai, but if you love a quality Thai salad or curry, this is 'da bomb'. And the coconut rice is a beautiful green colour and absolutely delicious! I've always felt very welcome here, even eating alone.

This used to be our favourite Thai restaurant. Always was pricey but food was amazing and traditional. Very disappointed. Still expensive but lacking Thai flavours. We sent the Tom Kha back as it was three prawns floating in heated coconut cream. The red curry although after the tom kha first mouthfuls but was really disappointing after those mouthfuls. I'm sorry to say won't go back. Thanks for the memories

We generally drop in for some Thai at this place when we are in Melbourne.I would rate it as good with a reasonable range of Thai plus a wine list that is average. Its not the best of Thai but its worth a look if you need a bit of spice in your food life.

The restaurant looks stunning at night, but it's even more impressive during the day when you can fully appreciate its incredible architecture and attention to detail. Réservez une table maintenant

I forgot to include this restaurant on my list of must-visit places in Madrid, which is a funny oversight.
