We were greeted by a pleasant server. Attentive, in that he was at our table often, but forgetful, in that he had to make multiple visits (water, a knife, bread, drinks list). We shared mussels in a cream sauce with sausage. Few were plump, but then, it was Sept 1, and legend has it one shouldn't consume mussels in a month with no R. The accompanying pita bread was excellent. The calamari was quite good, though the dip was out of a bottle. I had the stuffed chicken, which was too dry for my liking, though our daughter enjoyed it.Daughter had the pizza, which got a big thumbs-up from all of us. Very good. Missus had Bolognese with home-made pasta. The meat sauce was too fine, and the pasta clu...

Went here on Saturday night for a get together with friends. We couldn't quite figure out what this restaurant was trying to be...mediterranean or pub food? Nonetheless, we gave it a try. Our waitress was not friendly, didn't come to check on us and we had to ask for refills several times. The food was not appetizing. I ordered the chicken souvlaki, which came with plain chicken (absolutely no spice -- not an exaggeration) and no vegetables. I'm no chef...but I could have made it better myself. My husband ordered a chicken burger which came with a thin slice of chicken, not enough to even cover the burger and a runny sauce. Our friends were not too impressed with their food either. It took f...

Having just moved into Bedford, my sister and I decided to do some exploring of the near by restaurants. As many customers do, we came to Tripadvisor to get some insight on the food and service at Son Vida. Unfortunately we were coming up short, as there were so many bad reviews that one would never set foot in the establishment. We did some thinking and decided we will still go despite the reviews because some people tend to exaggerate and well of course complain about everything. We walked down to the restaurant, was greeted by a friendly hostess who then told us we can sit anywhere we like and the live music is about to begin. Seated in our choice seats, menus brought immediately, drink o...

First of all it is no longer Son Vida, so they should remove the website off the internet and also the new place just now open 2 weeks is called Butcher Block.....needs some work as was far behind standards of serving a large crowd even if unexpected..my food was overcooked and my friends was fine, just took way too long to get served and the space is tight in areas, a bit cozy in spots, I had to move my seating from a chair in the corner by the main bar as to avoid getting an elbow in the back of my head from the man sitting at the tall bar stool behind me. Hope they correct some minor mistakes to make it better for the area. Good luck..

This is a nice little pub/restaurant in a new area of Bedford, NS. The atmosphere is good, and so is the food (for a pub). I have eaten there three times. The first time was good - an excellent bucket of mussels for lunch. The second time the server forgot the starter, but offered to bring it AFTER the main course. The third time there was a long list of things on the menu that weren't available. This shortage carried over into the offerings of draft beers and even condiments - apple vinegar being offered as a substitute for malt vinegar. A bit of improvement in management would earn this place a Very Good rating.

We had dinner on a Friday night. First time there, will be our last. I ordered the chicken Enchiladas for 15.99, it was 2 small corn tortillas, with plain sliced chicken, no spices, no other ingredients. It was topped with a flavourless sauce that could have came from a bottle, and the "side " was some shredded lettuce. Needless to say, it was sent back.My husband's nachos were passable. All in all bad food, over priced food, but nice service.Too bad, it is a cute place, good location, could be great, need to have experienced staff in kitchen!

A larger group of us arrived here to try out the tapas offerings. We had a group of 5 and ordered a variety of tapas plates to share. The server was very accommodating and was regularly back to check on us, despite the extra-busy night. The food was great, tasty and hot. We had no complaints about any dish. Possibly the only thing might be portion sizes vs price, but at a Hamachi joint I expect it to be a bit on the overpriced end so this wasn't a surprise. Not a nightly type of place but a once in a while enjoyable spot.

This food here is great and the service is great! What I enjoy here the most is that the food tastes so fresh and home made. Most of the dishes you can tell are authentic and they support local breweries. They have local brews for $5.00 on tap on Fridays. Definitely a good recommendation for somebody looking for Mediterranean food.

How hard can it be ...producing acceptable pub food? Tried the mussels in curry sauce.. awful, no sauce, dry as a kangaroo's armpit. Thought I as I was on a reality TV show. Like to see local businesses do well...but gotta do better than this.
