Lovely day out. Raining but still a nice time. The walled garden was ridiculously expensive admission gor what it was, I wouldn't even say it was a spectacular garden. The owl centre was a good admission price, very clean and well ran with friendly staff. The animals all looked happy and well cared for. The museum itself was very busy and the lift is a little slow but really nice place. Some fantastic artworks on display. The museum also had peter rabbit and arts and crafts activities. Again lovely staff. We didn't do the trail/ walk as it just simply was too wet although a few still said it was lovely non the less.
an amazing place. we recently went here with 60 nine-year-old children on a school trip. we have seen the Anglo saxons that were staffing very friendly and have set up some great activities. the museum was also well furnished, with great displays. in the surrounding areas there are walled gardens that I do not get to see, which I visit in any case and also an owl sanctuary that I will visit. (this place I could not see on the school trip) there is a great playground for the children, our groups loved it. highly recommended
There was more to it and more floors than we thought there were! The top floors were the most interesting to us. Well worth a visit. We ran out of time at the end. We didn't book. It was open and there wernt loads of people there, fortunately. It is free. Might pay to ring beforehand at weekends and holidays especially to check about capacity and possible queue.
