Soul Bistro - Réserver une table

I have been going to Soul Bistro and referring friends for a few years now - breakfast, lunch, dinner - always excellent. Until today. I decided to treat myself to brunch but it would have been better value to roll up a $20 note and watch it burn. I considered the big breakfast ($18) and then took the owner's recommendation for the vegetarian breakfast ($18). Mistake of my life. It was dreadful and certainly not worth the money. Spinach, a bit of tomato, two poached eggs, a handful of mushrooms that tasted like they had spent too long in the bottom of the fridge, and some chick peas. That's it. I mentioned the bread wasn't the promised nuts and seeds but just plain old white toast. I was then given some revolting doughy stuff that was still frozen in the middle. Not sure what has gone wrong with the formula there but it's a very disappointing end to what has been a great place to visit over the past few years. Lost it.

We dined here before heading to Suncorp Stadium for a rugby game, and I really wanted to like it, but unfortunately it was a very disappointing experience. 3 of us shared tapas from their small plates menu and all of the dishes missed the mark. The sweet potato chips, lamb belly, chicken and haloumi fritters were all deep fried in the same chickpea batter, which meant they all turned out soggy and tasted identical. We persisted with dessert, with the brownie being quite enjoyable, but the berry tiramisu was just mixed berries, cream and crumbled cookies layered in a small glass...overall an unpleasant experience that left us all hungry and disappointed. It's a shame because everything on the menu sounds amazing, and I think the ideas are there, but whoever is in the kitchen cannot execute what they're offering.

Have been to this restaurant many times with friends, every visit is always a great experience. The blackboard lunch menu is always changing and very interesting. I am Coeliac therefore must have a gluten free meal. The Restaurant owner takes pride in serving a true GF meal. I will be returning again soon.

Used to be a work lunch favourite with myself and my colleagues. Think they have taken a hit in takings, thus variety and serving sizes have declined. Chef is still talented but get impression times are tough.

Great restuarant with cheerful and friendly staff. Food choices are plentiful and is great to have gf options worth terrific flavours. Well done to owners!
