We arrived at the Spread at 7.30 The restaurant was completely empty. We asked at the bar regarding food as no one was at the front desk where you usually ask for a table. The bar staff were very friendly and said eat where you like, we are not busy. We didnt want to sit in an empty area so we chose to sit in the bar. We were told that there would be no waitress service as we chose to sit in the bar. We were a metre away from the empty restaurant area. ? I ordered a carvery and my husband ordered a curry. My food was cold. I asked for it to be heated up in the microwave which was reheated. In the meantime my husband had nearly finished his. Such a shame as the food was nice, Vita the server...
Very close to the canal. My friends and I visited this on a canal boating day and it was a welcome rest point to get some lunch and chat without the drone of canal boat's diesel engine drone humming in the background. I wouldn't say the food was amazing, I struggle to remember what I even had so I'd say it was nice but not memorable. The service however was brilliant. You could tell they were all putting a lot of effort in and I couldn't fault them. Would come again.
First time visiting to meet friends for drinks and food. Great atmosphere, good choice on menu, food was delicious, service was outstanding and always with a smile! We will return for sure. Our friends had the carvery and loved it, husband had the stacker burger and was so full he had no room for pudding!y vegetarian options were so tasty!
Really good traditional pub serving great food and very friendly helpful staff. Will definitely return. Portion sizes are huge for food and the lamb burger was gorgeous.

I had the carvery, everything on offer, was very good. 3 meats 4/5 veg and the best roast potatoes I've ever had in a carvery
