Tried this restaurant for the first time, I called previously to find out the basic concept, which is a more personal cafeteria like process. I found both my conversation on the phone and my interaction with staff at the restaurant was exceptional. Very kind, patient and informative. The restaurant has 3 entrances but the food line is found in the center of this restaurant and the staff are most helpful with getting you the food you want, patient with questions. Now, the food. . .it tastes like you have come home to grandma's house. A good selection of vegetables, fried okra, mashed potatoes and white shoepeg corn were my choices with fried chicken. Veggies were very good but I could have eaten a plate of their corn, absolutely fabulous. Fried chicken was so good, juicy and minimal breading and not greasy at all. Hubby had cubed steak with white gravy, very good quality. His pintos were good. We had a Meer and 3 veggie plate with drinks for 28$ Will definitely be back!
This place is close to my house and I visit it often when I want some good southern veggies. I have never had any of their meats that was not excellent, but the star of the show for me is the Chicken and Dressing. It is like my grandmothers are over there making it, it is always perfect. At key times it can get a little busy and the parking lot can get crazy with some of the older patrons not always watching when they back out of a spot, but when you have to talk about the parking lot to find something bad, you know the place has good food.
Best southern cooking! Got my box to go but sat down for a bite… I ate everything before the fried chicken livers were done. And let me tell you bout those fried chicken livers. Almost didn’t get them because they weren’t on today’s menu so I tried to say no because I didn’t want to be a bother but those sweet ladies insisted they were delicious. Those fried livers are the best I’ve ever had. I come back up Wednesday and can’t wait to see y’all!
