Fabulous revision on a classic Zermatt favourite. We received such a warm welcome from the team despite not having made a reservation.. they went out of their way to welcome us and explain the new philosophy behind the food and ingredients. The chicken liver pate served with homemade bread (served as an amuse) was a sensational. We ordered the chateaubriand, which was perfectly cooked and do tasty. The polenta with 24-month parmesan was exquisite. Dinner was rounded off by the apple crumble with bay creme anglaise, which was subtle yet moreish. All I wanted to eat after hours of skiing is good meat and I couldn't believe that I only found this place until the last day of my stay (These guys deserve a much more outstanding review)! Had lamb cutlet of local sources with really good quality and it was prepared by chef with ~30yrs of experience. Was also super fun watching the grill process. I'd say it was a feast given the price (44 francs) comparing to an average Zermatt price. The service was also very heart warming. This will be my major source of protein on my next Zermatt trip.
We came for dinner the other night, I heard about the new owners and a new chef so we wanted to try out the renewed Stockhorn. The starters are absolutely a must try! The food was very tasty. Service very smooth and friendly. Downstairs they have a natural wine bar with a nice charcuterie menu. Lorenzo has a lot of knowledge and it’s just a really great place to have a few glasses of wine. Highly recommend both the restaurant and the wine bar.
We were very happy with our dinner here. The restaurant was recommended by our hotel and was a good recommendation. The menu was a little limited but the quality of the selections was superb. Our steaks were cooked perfectly. The best part of our experience was how friendly and welcoming the entire staff was. They seemed genuinely happy to have us dining with them. Had a wonderful time at this restaurant. Had a seat next to the grill to watch the chef work, and asked for the Chef Special, which lets them pick a starter, sides, and main course for 2. I would highly recommend doing this as everything we received was not from the main menu and was delicious. Service was excellent and the atmosphere warm.
Delicious food and very kind people here. The steak has a special flavor thanks to the wood grill and the gratin potatoes are super nice. If you come here for dinner, I would recommend to order just the main dish, with the salad and sidedish included and is more than enough. Thank you, lovely people and best of luck in the new year!
What a fantastic place!! We are from South Africa, so obviously for us it was freezing cold outside, walking into the place we found a nice cosy fire place and the staff were so friendly and kind towards us! The food was outstanding!!! we had starters, mains and something sweet, and it was really great!
The friendly waitress gave us a table without reservation on a busy night , lucky us, because what followed was delicious, perfectly cooked meat , skillfully barbecued with impeccable service. We will certainly come back Grtz from Ghent Réservez une table maintenant
