First, let me say that parking is atrocious. We parked a ten minute walk away. We picked Stogie Joe 's to eat at while in Philly because it was a Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives spot. The place was busy and the staff was hustling. Our server waspolite, but not personable. We were seated in what I would say is an add on room, which they called 'the garage '. It was sounbelievably loud, we could not even have a conversation, and it wasn 't music or TV 's, just people! Food was good. We had thesquare pizza with fresh tomatoes, garlic, basil, and more. It was good, but pretty sure we won 't be going back. I could notstand the noise. Oh, and it 's cash only, but an ATM is on site.
We go here for quizzo, but the food is good too. I'm a big fan of the pizza, the chicken parmesan, the clams in white, the hummus plate, and the Salmon. I, personally, don't like mussels, but my one girlfriend orders the mussels every single time soI'm guessing they are very good? Not a ton of vegan options for my vegan friends, but the spaghetti with olive oil and garliccan be done without parmesan cheese and is better than it sounds.
I cook for a living, and sadly was not too good experience. I got the crab pasta very famous there but i did not feel much crab flavor or feel the texture even. Low salt. It was almost like a red pasta and thats it. The clam linguini wasn’t that flavorful too. I like the house’s pizza. Loud inside but nice outside. Service just ok. Menu says Only Cash. Not cool.
The cash only aspect negates the very good food and service. Feel ripped off by the in-house ATM, and you will too. If someone can help me understand the thinking behind cash only operations, please do. The needs of the customer are secondary at this business.

Excellent clams and pasta dish, first started out with very tasty small house salad, friend was crazy about the traditional pizza with sausage. BRAVO
Not a deal breaker but it was quite annoying that they only accept cash. One of the waiters was a little rude about it when we went to pay our tab.
Our go to spot for south Philly eats. Square pizza is always great , in fact every meal is really good, reasonably priced.
Make sure you have cash. No cards. Food was ok. They certainly need to know there are so many competitors.

What a great place. Live music. Great food. Great atmosphere. Good service. The crab sauce is fantastic!!
Been getting strombolis at this place for years. Still damn good.
