UPDATE JUNE 2024: So since my initial review, I have been back to the Langdale complex and eaten at the Stove again. There is a new GM, who previously worked at the hotel, and has tried to turn things around. The menu has been updated and some of the service problems have been addressed. Unfortunately the food is still a long way away from where it needs to be, especially in comparison to the local competition stale bread, dry pasta and shop bought pizza sauces where some of the ongoining dissapointments. The restaurant seems to be ticking over based on the ‘captive audience’ of guests and hotel punters. Which is fine for the buisness I guess? But not a great user exp. It IS such a shame, th...
Meal with 3 friends lovely decor,not busy,staff friendly but short on numbers for staff. Food that was ordered was smoked salmon was tasty lovely fritters,pate which isnt homemade. Sirloin steaks were tough,so disappointing , left on plate at end of meal,staff did ask but just said would mention to chef had cheeseburgers which were tasty but very salty and very dense ,not homemade.Chips cold. Extra salad,fresh &extra coleslaw. Overall a little disappointed with visit and food only average.Very expensive for quality .
While staying in Elterwater, we decided to dine at this restaurant on our first night and our children enjoyed it so much that they wanted to return. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was delightful, and despite being a somewhat upscale restaurant, it was very welcoming to families with kids. The early supper club menu before 7pm offered great value. If you choose to order a la carte, I highly recommend trying the beef shin ragu, it was absolutely heavenly.
We stayed at the langdale hotel so naturally went to the stove a few times during our visit. The breakfast buffet was very good, and set you up nicely for a day of walking. The dinner menu could be a bit larger, but everything we ordered was perfect. The staff were very friendly and service was very efficient. We look forward to coming back in the future.

Went for a little weekend away to the Langdale lodge , wow the staff were brilliant . Went to the stove for breakfast for both days , a lady called Rebecca today was amazing . As I have a 10 months old , she welcomed us in and was great with my baby very kind and welcoming . The chief was also brilliant! Thankyou for your kindness today.we will be back! X
Drinks selection a let down…. Fantastic food, massively let down by drinks selection. Appreciate support of local Brewery Bowness Bay but their beers not up to standard. Lacking flavour and taste on both varieties. We asked for Estrella which I remember they used to have but now removed. Why?
We had traditional Sunday dinner and it was excellent. Side dishes of red cabbage, new potatoes, cauliflower, broccoli and carrots were perfect. It’s hard to beat roast beef or chicken with Yorkshire pudding and gravy. Lovely dining room and attentive service.
Only went in for breakfast and the service and food was amazing. The staff were very polite and couldn't do enough for you. Will definatly be returning

Service was not the best considering the high(ish) prices. Food choice limited and quality not really up to what it should be.
Great breakfast and dinner. Needs a bit more variety added to the menu.
