Aufgrund des wechselhaften Wetters an dem Tag, konnte unsere Gruppe leider nicht im Freien sitzen obwohl es immer wieder schön sonnig und warm war, gab es zwischendurch heftige Regengüsse. Das Lokal ist nett, wenngleich die Einrichtung schon sehr veraltet scheint. Die Speisen halten was die Karte verspricht und die Portionen sind groß. Einer aus unserer Gruppe war ihr bestellten Essen allerdings zu salzig (ihrem Sohn auch, er hat es aber fertig gegessen) und nach 2 Bissen hat sie gebeten ein anderes Gericht zu bringen. Es war problemlos möglich...bis auf den Umstand, dass sie nach über 30 Minuten noch immer kein Essen hatte. Man hatte sie schlichtweg vergessen. Kann passieren, sollte es aber...
You enter the place and you immediately feel at home. Old type porcelain coat hangers on the wall and an old tile stove supplying the heat. The vintage Zigarettenautomat gives a good contrast with the flat screen TV. The waiter Fabio was very nice and helpful. I definitely will go back every time visiting Vienna. For me the place is much better including the real Kalbsschnitzel than all the touristic Schnitzel places in downtown. Thank you! It was a great lunch.
If you are looking for a traditional, unpretentious Viennese restaurant by the "Alte Donau" (Danube lake), Birner is the place to go. On weekends, it makes sense to reserve a table by phone, ask for a table by the water ('am Wasser') and you will enjoy the evening sun... Foodwise, I have never been disappointed there, they dont serve haute cuisine, but then you want authentic Viennese food. The choice is not limited to Schnitzel, though...
This is a great traditional restaurant, beautifully located by the Alte Donau with seating on three levels. We have friends who live in the neighbourhood and go there all the time. Good food, good beer, lovely ice cream and friendly service. On a sunny warm day it feels like you are on holiday by the seafront. We will return.

We hired an electric boat for 3 hours so that we could travel to Birner restaurant and arrive in style. Beautiful setting on the Donaukanal on three levels down from the street. Great food including Austrian specialities, schnitzel , pork etc good menu. Not expensive
Wirklich urleiwandes Wirtshaus, da kann man fast direkt am Wasser sitzen... Sehr rasche Bedienung, und sehr nett freundlich!! Die Getränke Speisen sind echt super... LG HARVY
We were not there for a long time and will last until we go back.We are disappointed with the traditional best-known schnitzel restaurant
