The String Bean in Belmont, NC offers a vibrant atmosphere in a town that's quickly becoming a food destination. This unique spot combines a butcher shop, seafood market, wine store, and restaurant all under one roof. You can either order from the menu or select fresh ingredients directly from the butcher and seafood displays. We arrived around 7:30 on a Saturday and were fortunate to snag the last open table. Our server, Adam, was attentive and very knowledgeable. I tried the cowpig burger with eggplant fries, and my partner had the Reuben—both dishes were excellent and exceeded my expectations! My wife and I had a reservation for Valentine’s Day and thoroughly enjoyed our appetizers and main courses. We chose two side dishes—the duck fat fries for $6 and Brussels sprouts for $5. I anticipated a larger serving of fries, and sadly, the Brussels sprouts were rather bland and soggy. Our server, Isaiah, was outstanding. Having visited The String Bean multiple times, I had hoped the sides would be better.
The waitress performed like a machine. She rushed the order, grabbed plates as the last bit hit your mouth, presented the check immediately and stood there waiting for payment. We had a bottle of wine that the group was still enjoying after we paid and she made several obvious passes to see if we were leaving. Not the String Bean that I have enjoyed in the past.
This is one of our go to spots. Food is always good and never had bad service. We also took a big group here an the experience was wonderful. It was refreshing because I know some restaurants struggle with larger groups. We also had kids and the staff were so accommodating.

The eggplant fries are amazing! The flatbread with figs is simply delicious! I can't express how much I love this charming restaurant and market. The food was exceptional, and our server was friendly, professional, and efficient. It was a wonderful dining experience!
Absolutely terrific experience. Amazing food with amazing atmosphere and terrific service. Shrimp Grits were the best I've ever had. Definitely coming back in the future.
We had lunch with a group of friends, and the sandwiches were generous and satisfying. The fries cooked in duck fat had an exceptional flavor.
The food was fantastic, and the staff were incredibly attentive and helpful. I will certainly be returning!
