The food was decent, but the selection of veggies was limited. Compared to other Subway locations, I've had fresher vegetables. The soup was somewhat cold as well. The staff appeared more focused on phone orders than the customers waiting in line, which slowed down the service. If the place isn’t busy, it might be okay. I suppose it depends on the employees and the day. Usually, the service and quality here are around 4.5 to 5 stars, but I think they fell short today.
The employee working tonight appeared inexperienced in preparing salads. She stacked all the heavier toppings at the bottom of a small bowl and simply added loose lettuce and spinach on top. When I opened the lid, everything spilled out. I'm not sure if she’s trying to cut costs for the company or discourage customers from ordering salads in the future.
The service was excellent. I called ahead to confirm if they were still open since it had been years since my last visit to the El Monte Subway. The team here was fairly young, but it was clear they all showed a solid work ethic.
