I grew up near the restaurant and also know the previous restaurant. As a child, I was allowed to work behind the counter and serve drinks for my parents... I'm just saying this to make it clear: I've known the restaurant and the location very well and for a long time. When I still lived and worked here in Freiburg, I met my father in the south almost every week and we always ate the same thing: schnitzel with fries. Whenever I returned from my place of study, I used to eat here with my father, mother, sister, friends and girlfriend. The schnitzel is GREAT, very tasty. HOWEVER, the schnitzel now costs just under 19 EURO.... No pig in the world can tell me that 200g of its body is worth that...
Here in Freiburg Vauban Freiburg's alternative and coveted residential district, the south is almost like the heart of Vauban. It is centrally but quiet as it is located in a traffic-smooth zone. There are plenty of sunny seating on the terrace and also on the inside the space is good. The south has a very good kitchen daily changing lunches and always a vegetarian dish. Hähnchengeschnetzelte is not available here with pommes but with chiligemüse and tabuleh. There is a wide range of bourgeois, Mediterranean, but also international dishes that are always freshly prepared. at the end of 2015 I and my father had dinner there. the food was great and the service was very good. the foods were quite large. the restaurant was full with diners. I have mobility problems (can go, but do not climb stairs and this restaurant is accessible there is an outdoor lift in the 2nd floor where the restaurant is. the owners and workers are very hard working and they fulfilled our order very quickly. highly recommended. I only wish they spoke English (and I German):
I like to be in the south, delicious food, sunny ambience... Yes even vegan and vegi dishes can be found here... A restaurant in the Vauban. Here the sun rises, here the heart laughs. Seriously, it's very nice here. I love to sit outside on the large square. Cars hardly drive here and it is therefore very quiet. You only hear the cry of the happy children. Families like to come to brunch here on Sunday. I can absolutely recommend the break. We were at the house 037 tonight. They wanted to drink a beer in the south. In the middle room, pleasantly not loud, we were sent out. We should be in the crowded room, noisy.
