On the strength of good reviews we decided to order a takeaway from here. Whilst it did arrive on time, in the end the product we received was actually not what we expected and as such was a bit expensive. I am not normally one to be so critical, but this meal was not good in comparison to what we have eaten elsewhere, including in the subcontinent and Africa. The onion bhajis looked and tasted as if they had been double cooked, the veggie samosas had the appearance of having been cooked from a packet of frozen samosas (having cooked frozen samosas myself at home I do know what they look and taste like), the butter chicken was tough and there was little of it, certainly more sauce than chick...
I love it when the employer or employee talks in depth about the food you have ordered!!! A knew what I was ordering when I decided I wanted the Naga chicken! Was it the best curry I had!!?? No, to be honest, but not far from it!! Value for money, it was! Thank you and I hope you have the enthusiasm with people that do t know region in India. Will be getting again, that’s for sure and recommending best value curry take away! Why get one from the Fetcham tandoori opposite! That was not as good! Met the delivery driver while I was waiting. Nice chap. What more do you need???
I’m usually quite ok with eating substandard food if I don’t have to cook it. This was the worst Indian food delivery I have ever had by miles. Everything had so much sugar. The bread was like rubber and the only edible bit was the few chunks of cauliflower. I’ve drowned everything in lemon or lime but it’s just insanely sweet. Call to the restaurant resulted in “its our normal recipe comment” They offered me money off next order but there’s no way I am ever going back. Avoid if you like actual food cooked authentically.
I have been coming to this restaurant for a couple of years and it never fails to impress. I appreciate that each dish has a distinct flavor. They offer a wide selection of dishes (my favorite is the biriani) and are always accommodating to different dietary needs. The friendly, top-notch service and reasonable prices make this place a winner. While it is a small takeaway and there is no seating available, the food is definitely worth taking out. I had been staying in Leatherhead on business for the week and the town center takeaways were awful. I decided to travel a bit further and found Surrey Spice. Totally different to what I had the previous nights. I had the tandoori mixed grill and a chicken shashlik. All the food was very hot, plentiful and well cooked. Just the right amount of spice and a naan to wash it all down. Very happy with my choice and worth waiting for.
I tried this place on a whim and travelled all the way from Guildford to give it a go. The outside looked clean and well presented and I’m pleased to say the food is very affordable. And although it’s reasonably priced the food is excellent quality too fresh and tasty. Lovely poppadums, mint and mango dips, fluffy naan and decent spiced curry. They do an excellent set meals too I will definitely be returning.
