Sushi 69 is a real gift to Marin a top notch Japanese restaurant without the pretensions of the other leading entry in Marin. The rolls, nigiri, and entrees from the Sushi 69 kitchen are super high quality, fresh, and imaginative while respecting the traditions they come from. The service is great, and the staff is a pleasure to deal with. My Sushi 69 experiences compare favorably to meals that I've enjoyed at top restaurants in Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, and Hiroshima during 6 multi week stays in Japan. I want to add some gentle pushback on other Yelp reviewers' comments. One 2 star review apparently faults Sushi 69 for offering take out only during the Covid pandemic which seems to me like a prudent decision, not a fault. That reviewer appears to take issue with the majority of restaurants and services he reviews, and hasn't updated his comments to reflect that Sushi 69 has reopened for patio service after the mask mandate was removed. Another review takes down Sushi 69 for a single recent experience at what she calls one of my favorite sushi restaurants. Come on folks, the pandemic has made us all more testy and reactive, but why take out those feelings on local businesses publicly, via Yelp, rather than just registering a complaint with the management to see if they can address the issue, like we used to do?

Was my favorite local sushi restaurant, but now that it's takeout only, it's a pricey and disappointing experience. Not sure why this restaurant remains takeout only when every other place has been back open for business for a year. There is something depressing and puzzling about this business. Definitely not keen on patronizing anymore.

Warning: please inform the customer of the changes made. it deceives for a restaurant to keep the same name and not tell us that big changes have taken place. the moving to low-quality fishing is even visual and extremely disappointing. this quality product could never have been served by the previous employees. incredible!

We ordered four different rolls: Hiro, Takeshi, Explosion and Dragon. Rice was overcooked. Everything was okay. Not great. But quite pricey for the quality served. But then again, there are almost no other good Japanese restaurants in Marin.
