Sushi California Japanese Restaurant

The California Japanese Restaurant is right downtown Windsor. It is a small venue but they will take reservations. While the decor is simple, the food experience is amazing. From the service to the freshly prepared food, exquisitely done, you will find yourself wanting to come...back to this restaurant as soon as you leave it. The food is well priced and is absolutely delicious. It comes to you "hot" (sometimes a rare thing nowadays in restaurants). But while the entrees are delicious I seriously recommend that you leave room for desert and order the deep fried cheesecake yes that's deep fried. Share it though because the portion is big enough for two. The servers are friendly and prompt but you certainly do not feel rushed at all which is amazing given the limited availability for customers. Any advice I would give to the owners is expand if you can. Will certainly return again and again and again

The server was friendly enough, and we enjoyed the food, a tasty miso soup, a very flavourful salad, and an average sashimi boat. They really over-did the shredded daikon bed under the fish a lot went into the garbage. Unfortunately, we were turned off...by how dirty the restaurant looked. The walls at table level and the floors near the walls looked dirty. Plus there were some seats that were badly worn out. That makes you wonder how clean the kitchen was? We did not get sick, but we would not recommend or return

Came back to give the place a chance after a previous disappointed if restaurant policy! Food was mediocre! Sushi rolls were done by an emoter person, not a sushi chef!! The rolls looked OK but we're not the best tasted sushi!!! It was more like...a fast food sushi style. The only thing that was great was the Miso soup and the Ginger salad. Yes was very tasty as well. Staff was very streaked on what the restaurant is willing to sub on a combination meal. Not coming back

It been a long time since I've been to California sushi. Years ago I would have said for sure one of the best sushi places in town. Recently though, prices have gone way up and the quality has gone way down. When I buy a...sushi roll of like there to be more than a single grain of rice in depth around the Maki. Overpriced and they're just not trying anymore

Teriyaki Chicken nice flavour, lots of vegetables-not much chicken, and cabbage!?! So my wife couldn’t eat it. Rolls have nice flavour but prices are high for my taste. Service a bit dozy too
