Having struggled to find some decent Japanese restaurants in Brisbane we decided to try Kotobuki for lunch. We noticed they had some great reviews so worth a chance. Turns out the reviews were pretty much spot on.It's not very big here and very busy. Grab a menu, decide what you want and order at the till. Then grab a table. We tried a variety to share as we usually do, Edamame, gyoza, a Fusion roll, a couple of outsider rolls and some nigiri. The gyoza was deep fried not pan fried as is more usual but we liked it. Odd it didn't come with a soy/vinegar sauce for dipping but still good. The edamame wasn't overcooked and was seasoned well.We both liked the rolls which tasted fresh and the rice was done perfectly. We didn't like the curry mayo on the Spider Roll as it kind of overpowered everything but not too bad anyway. The fresh tuna and avo rolls were yummy as well as the salmon one. The pieces of nigiri were again fresh and a reasonable portion. The staff were very friendly and the food came out quite quickly. All we didn't like was it was a little TOO self service. We didn't have soy sauce dishes on our table so had to go hunting at other empty tables to find a couple. We had to ask for ginger. They do seem super busy so maybe that was a one off. Wouldn't stop us from going again. Definitely be back for dinner. Thanks Sushi Kotobuki!
