Went to SushiLab with a friend around 8:00pm. It was advertised that the restaurant was open until 11pm so we thought we had lots of time to relax and enjoy our meal. There were five other full tables there when we arrived. We waited to be seated by the host, and then ordered drinks from our server and neither mentioned that they were closing early that evening. Our server came back with our first order and we started eating. We had only taken a couple bites, and an older server came over and abruptly said "You orderin' any more sushi? I was not expecting to find a sushi place in Lab City. So, that was a pleasant surprise. And, while I wasn't expecting it to be outright bad, it was way better than I expected. The decor was nice, the atmosphere was great. It was quiet, and nice. And the food was great. The iPad used for ordering was a little glitchy, but still worked, and was an interesting novelty. I had a dragon roll and a phoenix roll. Both were very, very fresh and tasty. The macaroon "cake of the day" dessert was disappointing. It was two cold (refrigerated) macaroon cookies on a plate. Was not impressed with the food this time as well as last time I visited this establishment. :( Most of the meat dishes I ordered (battered fish, chicken panini and beef stir fry) had almost no meat. Didn't receive a lot of the dishes I ordered even after mentioning it to the staff a few times. Husband asked for a second drink several times with no results. A friend has asked for green tea several times as well. :( Last time I was there it was the same. I have learned my lesson. This food is very expensive for what you are getting!
Large, open restaurant with a novel approach to ordering via Samsung iPad tablet. We didn't try this, but ordered a la carte instead. Service was prompt and friendly - food arrived quite quickly (Pad Thai and tempura shrimp - menu is more than just the usual sushi choices), but the place was almost empty. Very good choice in Lab city.
Found out they have some flow over seating into another room. Had no issues with that and even with a large group we still got our orders relatively quickly. We are and ate and ate sushi, loved every plate that was presented. We will go back and recommend this place to anyone who likes sushi.
