Definitely a hidden jewel for sushi at this literal mother and pop run Sushi Square, which she operated for 27 years! Just from Japan, only some sushi cook and his wife came to Hawaii just looking for the lack of Japanese cuisine on Maui! They concentrated on cool and unusual roles and offered Tempura and Udon, which obviously cannot be on any other resturant on the island (read lips here .. While the service with the only waiter-handling payments can be slow, water serves and also the supply of food can be a challenge. But they wouldn't hire other people except for help on weekends. And when the food arrives, his probably had one of the better sushis ever! The rolls had a lot of taste and texture to them! And the bread on the tempura is right! The server was also really nice to show up on other restaurants to support next to their restaurant, which was really nice of them! We will definitely try the other restaurant they recommend and also want to support because local businesses like these need all the shouts they can get!
We have sushi from Sushi Paradise on Valentine's Day. We called late (about 6 a.m.) and were able to plan a pickup at 10 a.m. We ordered the Sashimi plate and some Nigiri. The food was nicely packed and the lady who waited for us in the restaurant (perhaps we are the last customer they were waiting for) also made a great work that explains all the fish in order and how to use the sauce. Although it was a take-out order, I really enjoyed the quality of sushi and how well it packed the food as well as how fresh the food was. Very recommended!
Sushi Paradise is Maui's hidden gem when it comes to good sushi! We always get the Paradise dinner which come with a sashimi platter and nigiri platter and a roll of your choice. Enough for 2 and very worth the price. Beet and spicy Scallops are bomb also the fresh uni! Spicy salmon roll is topped with alot of avocado and delicious!
AMAZING FOOD and service! A reservation is in advance (restaurant is small), and preorders the items we wanted. My friend is Japanese and he was very impressed. My favourite items here were the beet/scalope dish, spicy salmon roll, CHAWANMUSHIIII and Lilikoi ice cream. Will definitely be back in Maui for the next time!
