Judging by past reviews, the new owners experienced some issues during the pandemic supply, cost, dependable help, etc. But judging by today's meal, they have by far overcome all of them. My wife and I had halibut and chips that were awesome. They cut the halibut diagonally so you end up with pieces that are perfect finger size for dipping in their tartar sauce. The crust was crunchy with every bite, and the fish was flaky and moist. Fries were on point as well, although I'm not a fan of the shoestring style. The only critical point and I am stretching here was the tartar sauce. It could've been a little more flavorful, but after all, I did order halibut and chips, not tartar sauce with hali...
Such a shame. This was our treasured local restaurant for 20+ years. A casual spot on the water serving incredibly fresh seafood at fair price. Not cheap, but fair. Easily the best fish and chips you've ever had. After a change in ownership a few years ago the food became inedible. Gone are the fresh halibut and cod fillets, replaced by the kind of dry frozen pre-breaded fish you get a a big box store. Gone are the crab cakes made of fresh alaskan crab, replaced by machine made disks the size of a half dollar with no discernable crab meat inside. This restaurant is fantastic, and the clam chowder is incredibly delicious. If you're in the area, you definitely need to stop by and prepare for an explosion of flavor. I'm not certain if it's every Sunday, but they offer 1 lb of crab for $39.99, which is a great deal and cooked perfectly to order. It was so good that I had to go back for a second visit. I also tried the halibut and shrimp, and they were both very flavorful. The staff is friendly, and they maintain a clean environment. The restaurant is a bit on the small side, but they do have outdoor seating available when it's not raining. Make sure to add this to your list of must-visit spots, and be sure to come hungry!

My husband is from England and he says the fish and chips are excellent. I had the shrimp platter and a Caesar salad. The shrimp were so fresh and delicious. If I were to go there again I probably would get Cole slaw instead of the salad. You order from the front counter and then they bring you the food when it's ready. The place was packed and the line was out the door for 20 minutes while we ate. The restaurant has lots of fishing items on the wall and hanging from the ceiling via fishing nets. So they set the seafood ambiance before you even walk in the door.
I visited this restaurant with my family during the summer after our 26-glacier cruise, and it was absolutely fantastic. It offered the best seafood we experienced throughout our entire trip to Alaska. The outdoor patio seating was wonderful, featuring stunning views. The service was excellent; the staff was very friendly, and our food arrived in a timely manner. They also had some great merchandise for sale—I even bought a sweatshirt as a keepsake! I will definitely return the next time I'm in Alaska.
please save your time and money. understaffed and overpriced. it literally tasted like nasty fair food. fish sandwhich was not a wholesome patty it was two skinny pieces. none of the buns were toasted. the fries were cold. the wait was so long. the tarter sauce of course fell short. no lemon wedge for the fish and chips. They should stop taking orders so they can catch up during the rush and put out quality food... but okay. Sucks to be the tourists who think this is good.
We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch at Swiftwater yesterday. We ordered the crab cakes and two half-and-half fry baskets, featuring half shrimp and half halibut. The shrimp was definitely the highlight, and we both found ourselves wishing we had ordered more! The fries were reminiscent of McDonald's, which is high praise in my book. The Fish and Chips were fresh and among the best we've had during our time dining at various restaurants in Alaska. The Clam Chowder was also delicious. We attempted to return for lunch the very next day, but the place was packed, with a line out the door. Unfortunately, we couldn’t wait! This restaurant is truly a gem, and the service was exceptional. They also have a great selection of local beers!
