As a Trip Advisor DESTINATION EXPERT for Colombia it is my pleasure to provide this well balanced and accurate review. I have been traveling to Colombia for the past 30 years and for the past 4 years living in Medellin. I have traveled and explored just about every area, every city and even more numerous small pueblos in Colombia than I can count. I have the time, the resources, the passion and the experience to understand reasonable expectations when it comes to Colombian hotels, hostels, restaurants, bars, activities, things to do and see and tours. I am pleased to provide this review of Tacos Cuates in San Gil. I have been visiting San Gil for the past 10 years and my most recent visit was last week. Being raised in Los Angeles California I have much experience with Mexican food, at least our version of it which is not overshadowed by my many travels throughout Mexico in the past 4 decades. Let me get straight to the chase I thoroughly enjoyed this restaurant as It reminds me of the many Mexican restaurants back in the LA area. The service is good, the margaritas was spot on, the salsa was superb, the tacos were tastefully prepared and delicious. The ambiance was neither pretentious nor over assuming rather it was authentic for Mexican restaurant. I especially enjoyed the music/video of Vicente Fernández playing, truly great classic music. My 5 stars is given as there are so few choices for authentic Mexican food here in Colombia so when you find one that checks all the boxes well they earned the 5 stars. When I get back to San Gil I will return again to Tacos Cuates and without any hesitation recommend that you try it yourself.

Very well designed on a Mexican style.Great Tacos, Salsas and Enchiladas; Nachos and Mexican Drinks like Jamaica and Horchata. Mexican Beer also available, Mexican Margaritas and Tequila.The owners, Jose Miguel Garcia (A funny & smart Mexican guy) who married a Colombian Girl, decided to see how much would the Colombian People like Mexican Food; so he and his wife decided to open this place; and they were absolutely right, they enjoy Mexican Food, as we witnessed while having dinner.Both very friendly, food delivered on time, warm and with the Mexican Seasoning, Flavor and Spicy, as Mexican food is.They also have lots of Mexican Stuff, from T-Shirts, Dolls, Candy, and more.

As a vegetarian I often have a rough time finding food while traveling and my sister (non-veg) wanted mexican food, so we went to this restaurant and they have a really nice environment, mexican music, decoration and people, and they allow you to take pictures wearing their masks and hats. Food was really nice and tasty, I asked for a vegetarian burrito one day and next day for a kind of sandwich and both were awesome. My sister asked for Tacos and something else, and she was also happy with her choice. In brief, one of the best restaurants I visited in San Gil.

This a real mexican restaurant and the decoration is with mexican products. You can buy something like handicrafts and souvenirs.

Great food, very traditional cooking. Excellent service. Parking on premises. Try the Mexican Soup. Owner/chef is Mexican.
