Stopped by for takeout last night on the drive home after dropping my little one off for a sleepover at her aunt/uncle/cousins place in Fremont as a treat due to the Veterans Day school holiday today. I remember back 10 15 years ago when they had more locations and were always a sure bet for tasty Mexican fare. I get that food is definitely a different experience takeout versus dining in (I had about a 10min drive home) but it was so horrible! I have a small appetite and asked for something manageable and with Fabiola at the order counter's assistance decided on the chicken flautas as a side order and one prawn taco. It's been years since I've been to this place and I remembered it being pretty decent. Last night I had dinner with friends and I was not especially impressed. As with everything, their prices have gone up, most items are over $15, but I guess that's normal now. I wouldn't mind if the quality and flavors better. I wasn't super hungry and didn't want leftovers and struggled to find something that wasn't a giant platter of food. I settled on sopes with chicken. The corn shell forming the bottom was so tough I could not cut it with a knife. I have gotten food poisoning on four different continents in places without running water but none of it compares to the horrific, fever inducing sickness I got after ordering the quesadillas here. You know what rhymes with Tacos Guayamas Birria? Diarrhea. Of the Latinx-plosive kind.
Overall, I thought the food at this restaurant was really great. As someone from California, I was a bit skeptical about finding authentic Mexican food out here, but they really exceeded my expectations.

We booked our reservation through OpenTable, but when we arrived, the restaurant did not appear to check the system. It seems like they may not even use it.
Food is pretty but overpriced. If you drive 5 minutes to Azteca at Northgate you can have similar food/drinks for about half the prive with happy hour.
Honestly this place is fire. Inexpensive Mexican food, great burritos, cheap beer, what else do you need? Also excellent guac.
I have ordered from here a lot and I really like their super burrito!! food is always ready fast and they are super nice

The service is exceptional and the food is wonderful. This is a first choice for me with my friends and family.
