Was here a few years back and had good memories. Decided to call late Friday morning and reserve for lunch at 1:30 with a couple co-workers. We arrived around 1:35. Place was completely full and the staff looked around worriedly for a moment before finding a newly-vacated table and quickly cleaning it for us. <br/ <br/ The kitchen was closing at 2:30, so time was of the essence. My co-workers both opted for the Malaysian laksa, I chose the Singapore laksa, and we ordered the roti canai and vegetarian samosas to share. Appies arrived promptly. The slightly greasy roti and curry dip hit the spot as did the crispy-outside, soft-yummy-inside samosas. Laksas arrived quickly as well and were equal...

To celebrate D’s graduation we went to Tamarind Hill in New Westminster. Having a Malaysian restaurant in our neighbourhood (only minutes away by car) is such a bonus!. Our friend Espie attended the graduation with us and joined the dinner. To accommodate everyone’s comfort level we ensured everything we ordered was at the mild-spice level, but you can definitely increase the heat as you wish.

The place is not big, so reservation recommended. We ordered the char Kueh teow, or fried rice noodle, and a samba chilli combo of okra, egg plant, green bean with shrimp. The rice noodle was soft but not sticky. A little less soya sauce would be perfect. The combo was fantastic. Keep in mind that the portions are small.

Have never tried Malaysian food. I now love it and will be going back to Tamarind Hill. I thought the turmeric chicken roti wrap was so delicious with the curry sauce. Also tried the shrimp coconut milk laksa. Definitely going back to this place soon.
