Tanabe Japanese Restaurant

Stumbled across Tanabe after our usual Japanese was not answering. We are so so glad because we now have a new favourite Japanese and cannot wait for restrictions to be lifted to be able to dine in here and enjoy the complete atmosphere. Everything we ordered was delicious and so flavoursome, even being slightly cold after we were a bit behind picking up. The level of care and finesse taken with every dish was astounding and very much appreciated. So glad to have a delicious local Japanese with great service <br/ <br/ Crispy tempura <br/ Fresh sashimi <br/ Crazy good teriyaki chicken <br/ Intensely flavoured Oven baked nasu dengaku <br/ <br/ All the tastes!

Having a great dinner at night! The food is overall good, all staff are friendly, and the environment is nice. The best authentic Japanese food that I’ve eaten in Melbourne. I’ll be back for next time <br/ <br/ New updated: went there for third time with ordering a Nasu Dengkaku and Fish Teriyaki.<br/ <br/ New updated (26/6): ordered miso soup, Tonkatsu, and Agedashi Tofu. <br/ <br/ Overall it’s still the best!

Soo glad we managed to get a table as it was pretty much booked out. We ordered a few things to share and enjoyed it all! Started with the tofu and gyozas, followed by the sushi boat, prawn tempura and beef. Then ended with the green tea ice cream. All delicious and served with a smile by the friendly and accommodating staff. Looking forward to going back.

Been to Tanabe twice this year. <br/ Reasonably priced restaurant able to feed five adults for $150. <br/ The wait staff are attentive and are accommodating to requests (I.e no wasabi in sushi rolls). <br/ Quality of the fish is high and the food is always tasty and satisfying. <br/ Would recommend to anyone in the Mordialloc area. <br/ Réservez une table maintenant

The food here is amazing! The Gyu Tataki and Sukiyaki are both outstanding dishes. This restaurant is one of the few places in the area that offers truly authentic Japanese cuisine. We will definitely be returning.

Cannot fault! Delicious take away order tonight, a lot of care taken in separating and labelling correct sauces with certain fish. Will be back very soon! Yum!

Came here for dinner during the week. Food was delicious and fresh. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Will definitely eat here again. Looking forward to it.

Better food or at least equivalent to great restaurants in japan. A must try ! Hot or cold dishes all consistently excellent. Dont be fooled by the decor ! Réservez une table maintenant

Best Japanese you will find in the suburbs!! So incredibly fresh and delicious! My only word of advice is make sure you book because it gets very busy!!!

My go-to every time I’m in Mordialloc. The food is delicious, very reasonably priced, there’s BYO and the staff are always warm and friendly.
