The food here was really high quality. You could tell it was real food. Our group got a range of items and we enjoyed all of them. The item I got was the burger special for the month. I was a little apprehensive but had heard good things from other people who had similar burgers. The peanut butter and jelly burger shocked me with how good it was. I have been to Tanzenwald a few times now. The first 2 times I would of given it a 2/5 (Poor service, spilled beer all over fiance, then never offered a napkin....fried pickles somehow were missing the pickle.... still confused on that one). This last visit flipped that script a little bit prompting me to make this review. First off, great beer and good selection. My Fiance said the Hefeweizen was more on the banana side which is more traditional (If I'm not mistaken). I had the Smithereen Hazy IPA.... very good, not too bitter, still packed a fruity punch! We also split a burger in which they cut in half and brought out on 2 separate plates without us asking.. AWESOME! Would still recommend...
The beer is fantastic, and the waitstaff is wonderful. However, when I mentioned that one of the cooks kept scratching his face and playing with his hair without washing his hands, the management became quite irritated. They made jokes at my expense for bringing it up and were passive-aggressive about it. Because of this, I won't be returning. My health and safety should be a priority for both them and me.
Hostess was very friendly but didn't get to try any food or their beers. Tuesday nights there is a bicycle crew every week and it was going to be 90 minutes for food, taking us well past closing time. No thanks!

Nice to see a German restaurant! Not too many in MN. The beer was excellent. The schnitzel sandwich was good. the house made sauerkraut wasn 't great and I suspect it was not really house made.I would go back.
Great brew selection with full kitchen, where the food is just as good as the beer! They have two patio spaces that had plenty of shade in the late afternoon and evening.
The beer was outstanding, and the food was delicious. Our waitress was very attentive to our needs. I really appreciate the online reservation system.
We had amazing food, great beverages, and to top off the “very best” server! Thank you, we’ll be back. We drive an 1 hr for your restaurant.

Dedicated fryer for gluten allergy!!! Fries were excellent, polish sausage and gluten free bun was delicious. Excellent service by an Ole!
We had a large group and filled the big high top! Great environment, service and food!! Would def go here again!!
