My dining partner loved everything, I did not. I recommend you give it a try for yourself. It’s certainly the only Spanish or tapas restaurant within a 1 hour drive in any direction. It’s a nice place and I can tell they know how to cook. But the dishes just didn’t work for me. The portion sizes are a bit larger than most other small plate restaurants, enough for at least 2 or 3 people to all taste each. Tapas is always a bit more expensive than a burger place, but the total check won’t be as high as you think for a fine restaurant. Tapa Rio was a very good choice for our family dinner. The menu offers a nice variety of options and the smaller plate offerings, allows for the opportunity to try several different choices. The paella is highly recommended, the shrimp, mussels and scallops were all very tasty. The lamb meatballs are a must try as well. The steak was tender and flavorful. The flatbreads look delicious and will have to be tried on the next trip. The server was friendly and the atmosphere is pleasing. We had a fantastic experience at Tapa Rio. The restaurant is conveniently located just a few blocks from the historic city center, right by the river. The patio offers stunning views of the meadow and riverside. There is ample parking available on site, as well as in a nearby parking lot and free city parking just a block away. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. The atmosphere was relaxed, making it a great spot to hang out on the patio.

This was one of the best meals I've had in a long time. The portion sizes were large and perfect for sharing. We received a lot of food for a great price. I highly recommend this restaurant, but be sure to make a reservation as it fills up quickly.
