I recently dined at this restaurant for dinner and had a satisfying experience overall. The food was delicious, earning a solid 4 out of 5 stars. The service was also commendable, providing attentive and friendly staff who made the evening enjoyable. However, the atmosphere was a bit lacking, with a rating of 3 out of 5; it could use some improvements to enhance the dining experience. Nevertheless, for the price range of $10 to $20 per person, it was a great value for a nice meal.
I love the tacos and quesadillas here! Everything is cooked fresh and ready within 15 to 45 minutes depending on business. Keep in mind they are not open on Sundays! Sometimes it’s a little dancing in the front area because it’s a small establishment. Be patient it is well worth the wait! Any of the beverages next to the cash register definitely pair well with their menu. Don’t forget to ask for lime and hot sauce with your order. I’ve been here more times than I can count and each time the al pastor tacos are out of this world.
The tacos were traditionally done like the description above, with the addition of fresh avocado. I thought this was a great touch, and appreciated that the avocado was included since it's usually extra. The pork was good, but the beef cheek was outstanding melt in your mouth tender, rich, and flavorful. The nachos were loaded with crumbled chorizo, lettuce, salsa, sour cream, cheese, and jalepenos.
It could almost be a little place in Mexico City. It's cash only, you seat yourself, there are cute decorations and Spanish music playing. It's the most authentic place to get Mexican in Boston I've found so far. Get the mole.

On October 12, 2015, I realized I don't visit Taqueria El Amigo in Waltham as often as I'd like. However, with the lovely weather today, I decided it was the perfect opportunity to head over for some lunch.
Authentic hole-in-the-wall Mexican cuisine. Skip the expensive plane ticket and visit this place instead. The carnitas and lengua tacos were outstanding, but unfortunately, they don't offer tripitas.
Amazing little hole-in-the-wall Mexican restaurant! The food is authentic and absolutely delicious. They offer all the classic favorites along with a wide variety of unique dishes to choose from.
