What's better, the incredible pupusas or the family who runs El Salva Mex? Obviously we go for the food, but they are also the sweetest people! We've been to El Salva Mex dozens of times. I really appreciate their transparency in distinguishing that the refried beans in the pupusas are vegetarian, but the refried beans in the burritos have lard. (Not sure why that is, but I always order black beans in my burrito. The pupusas are outstanding, the curtido is always fresh, and I love all their salsas. The burritos are fine, but not remarkable, except that they are a good size. A couple things to note The hours are not always consistent (at least during the pandemic so definitely call ahead if y...

I'm not gonna hit the bush. the chiles relleno here is phenominal! just go in, order the chiles relleno and do not look back. Thank you. Please note that they do not always have the chiles relleno, so I recommend calling forward. they will take orders over the phone so they may also put in their order via the phone. you will be ready for the future. here's only cash, no credit cards. so bring the teig. also, while the covid they are not advertising, but they are happy to eat them in the restaurant. they have a beautiful small outdoor area where they can also eat. during the summer I shoot out. a part of this place: if they have a seafood or shellfish allergy, all foods here should be conside...

Forget this tiny family owned by precious stone on San Pablo Avenue in El Cerrito. I was there several times and had Tacos. These are authentic and not those I use that have been fried. Still with the soft bowls to the ones. But this time I had chicken enchiladas and it knocked me out of my seat. I order two with the green sauce with rice and orange juice. It was so good and not because I was hungry. It just went down smoothly. Maybe it was the cheese. My neighbor, Mike, go there all the time. I can't wait until they eat inside. I'll bring my employees and friends. I gave him 4 stars because you had to order chips on the site and we had to eat outside. There was no atmosphere and it was cool...

Moreover, they only accept cash, which is quite inconvenient in an age when most people pay with cards or phones. I might have overlooked this if the food had been amazing. To top it all off, the chips provided were Parmesan garlic pita chips! Yes, you read that right—at a Latin restaurant. I regrettably dipped one into the salsa and was unpleasantly surprised; I had been hoping for some hummus instead. Luckily, I had brought store-bought tortilla chips with me, and those, along with the salsas, were delicious. I wish I could say the same about the burrito. It's disappointing that I'll have to drive the full two miles to my go-to place on Solano. But hey, sometimes you need to know what you'... Réservez une table maintenant

Thank you! After more than nine years in business, Taqueria El Salva Mex will close its doors on Saturday, February 19, 2022. This message was handwritten on the front window of the restaurant. For over nine years, this place was a hidden gem along San Pablo Avenue, known for its incredible hole-in-the-wall meals. Their pupusas were legendary, and now, they exist only in our memories.

This place is comfortable and has personality and character. Delicious Pupusa are served with a sweet-flavored curtido that has a slightly spicy aftertaste. My favorite food is the 1/2 crispy soft taco served with lime and radish slices.

The food here is OK, it's edible, and the flavor is fine, but it's nothing great, and it's way over priced for the quality of the location. I would not recommend you go here unless this is a last resort. Réservez une table maintenant

We were completely overlooked when we arrived and throughout our visit. The staff was unfriendly and unwelcoming. We would have been loyal customers if there had been any sign of good customer service.
