This is a fantastic spot to relax and enjoy excellent food, frequented by locals. The beautiful outdoor terrace is especially lovely—perfect for nice weather (first photo). The shrimp chips are absolutely delicious. The food is consistently tasty, showcased in the second photo. I highly recommend the Valley Days salted watermelon cider from Hudson North Cider Co. in Newburgh, NY (third photo), which is simply delightful. They have a rotating menu, but I always manage to find a delicious drink to quench my thirst on a hot summer day. Kudos to the chef and the wonderful wait staff who create such a friendly atmosphere!
This hidden gem in Poughkeepsie is a delightful find. You should definitely check it out! The menu is incredibly creative and one of the best I've seen in a long time. They truly excel at everything they do. The staff is exceptional and provides outstanding service. Whether you're dining inside or enjoying the outdoor seating, they can accommodate parties of nearly any size, and the decor is warm and inviting. You can't go wrong here! Be sure to call ahead or make a reservation for an appetizer and a generous glass of wine.
This is the second time I've been to Tavern 23 and the friendly hello from Zoe behind the bar made my wife and I feel welcome right away. We started of with an order of Buffalo Wings, of which were prepared to perfection. Our meals consisted of a perfectly cooked Bacon Cheddar Barbecue Burger and the Fisherman's Platter. It was nice to run into Jenn while we were there as well. Above all, you will really enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and their outdoor dining. Try this hidden gem in the city of Poughkeepsie !!
I visited for the first time and had some trouble locating the entrance since my GPS directed me to the back of the restaurant. However, the food was fantastic, and they were more than willing to accommodate our modifications. They offered a nice selection of craft beers. The waitstaff and bartenders were wonderful – they not only made excellent recommendations but also engaged in great conversation with our group. The food, drinks and service were outstanding! It was packed, on a Thursday night and my wait time was way less than a chain restaurant and the food was 100 times better. It's clear that the chrfs and waitstaff take pride in what they do and serve. I live 2 1/2 hours away and would gladly make another day trip to eat here.
really great local bar in a residential area under the Poughkeepsie hiking trail over the hudson. really competent and friendly staff in a cozy room. that was great. only annoying is that find the darn place. there is no sign so much luck. but it is worth hunting. directly to katie, jessie bridget and crew!
Our bartender was the best bartender I have ever had period and I’m 54. She was amazing. Boss of the bar. Was In control of everything and still made time to talk and be personal. Reminded me of Pink. Beautiful tough short haired blonde chick. This isn’t her last stop!! She is going places!!!!
My fiancé and I were visiting from Pittsburgh and decided to go to Tavern 23 for dinner. They did not disappoint from the amazing drinks, hospitality, beautiful patio and the amazing food!
