We visited in August 2017. The setting down by the beach has an air of the secret garden about it - it's tucked away and looks cosy and relaxed with the rustic tables, fairy lights and the pool. The staff were quick, almost too quick to take our order but seems to loose interest thereafter. They were mainly late teens/ early 20's and there seemed to be no-one in charge. We ordered more drinks and coffee that never arrived and had to get up to leave to finally get them to bring the bill. It's cash only too. The food started well - the starters were good - particularly the Moules taxi and the poulet curry - the mains were mixed - the steak and cod were good the tuna lacked any kind of seasoning ( apart from the ubiquitous sprinkle of dried thyme that seemed to be a feature of all the dishes - even dessert) and the desserts were universally poor - avoid the chèvre marinee unless you want to finish your meal with a dish that's more suitable as a starter. The staff seemed uninterested in repeat business ( or tips presumably) we booked here as our favourite le Balaou was fully booked - easy to see why - not sure we'll go back to Taxi Brousse but we'll definitely return to Le Balaou and make sure we book early!!!!its a shame as the location and potential should make this a place you long to return to year after year

We chanced upon this place last time we were on the island and despite reviews decided to give it ago again. The biggest attraction is without doubt the pool for the kids! We hadn't reserved but arrived just as they opened and were seated with no problem. We decided to go for entrées and pudding and skipped the mains. We kept it simple and had mussels/prawns and salad and goats cheese and cheesecake for pud with wine and beer. Still over €100 but in our case the food was great and the kids were happy! Even though we didn't have mains we were there for a little over 2 hours and were not rushed at all. It's the location and atmosphere rather than the food that makes this place! We will come again next year with some time to prepare ourselves for the bill!

My wife and two adult children were very excited to go to le restaurant Taxi Brousse as we had visited the previous day and really liked the charming location close to the sand dunes and open air setup under the trees, with some tables where you could have your feet in the sand. The menu had a decent selection of local seafoods etc but the wine list only featured bordeaux or cote du rhone at higher prices, which was surprising as many other restaurants on Ile de Re feature locally produced white

One of the more unusual eateries on the island. The menu is predictable, and doesn't seem to have changed over the years at all. The staff are young and friendly. The pool makes Taxi Borusse an ideal place for groups with children.
