Had a strange experience at Thai Kitchen, something I never expected. Right inside the door to this place, there was a bare fish tank no rocks, plants or other stuff, except for a single, lone fish. It was one of those fish with the bulbous heads, about 4 5 inches long. Decent size. I wound up playing with this fish before we got seated. As soon as I walked up to the tank, he noticed me and swam over to me. I put my finger on the tank and moved it along the tank, and the fish followed it. I really do love this place, damn near flawless establishment. The service is always quick and friendly. The food is delicious, the interior of the place is clean and has a nice aesthetic to it. But a pet peeve of mine is when an obviously successful establishment such as this one, cheaps out on portions. The lunch specials are priced around $12 and the dinner closer to $20. I grew tired of never being fulfilled by the lunch portion so I tried ordering the dinner size. For $20, the dish was very disappointing. The service and food choices are always good, however yesterday the chef (shame on me for not remembering his name) produced the normal exemplary Thai Spring rolls and calamari. So special that they were followed by the best Bendang Lamb I have ever tasted. After eating the beef based curry in Indonsia and around the world, the chef's Malasian influence produced this amazing Bendang Lamb. Now it would seem that I have no choice but to make it my meal of choice on every visit.
Unfortunately I will not be dining here again. I have dined here twice and although the food is tasty and the service is great, the restaurant has a pet fish on display that is being neglected. How can I enjoy a meal with this poor animal in my view? Would it be so hard to get this fish a slightly bigger tank, some plants/enrichment objects , or possibly a tank mate?!?! The food is extremely expensive here for pineapple chicken fried rice is $23 here. But at Asian diner in Ledgewood. It’s only $12.25. I don’t understand why. It’s the same exact thing. The food here is very good though. Just wish that it wasn’t so expensive. Otherwise I would eat here more often.
